Re: DOH! broke an exhaust stud...
Where does one find such a stud? Is there a honda part number or it is a hardware store item?

Re: New jet with big bore upgrade, throttle stuck wide open
Of course, this worked like a champ! I'm such a noob. I better stick to airplanes.
Anyway, now I have to find some exhaust studs. Is that a hardware / honda shop item, or do I need to hit the ebay spree parts store I have grown so accustomed to...? The old studs are way rusted into the old cylinder ...

Re: New jet with big bore upgrade, throttle stuck wide open
Ok, I thought that also and will check again, but I checked it against another carb I just rebuilt on another spree. There is that little wedge shaped cut on one side and the full length cut on the otherside for the cable. I have the wedge shaped cut closest to the engine, where the little detent is ...

New jet with big bore upgrade, throttle stuck wide open
I just put a big bore kit on an old spree which included a new carb jet. I'm not sure if it is the new jet, or a problem with the throttle doohicky that drops down into the carb (sorry to be so technical) not going in far enough. The cylinder in the throttle body is lined up with the little detent ...

Thanks!, the kit came will all the goodies - new jet, etc.
I've changed a lot of pistons and cylinders, but never in a spree.

Fixing to put in the big bore kit..
I bought a 44mm Big Bore kit and am going to upgrade the non-running spree (weak compression). Since I am going to pull the whole motor off and clean everything up to do this, any other suggestions while I am in the process?
Any step by step do's and don't for replacing the cylinder?
Thanks!

Re: Spree - back from the dead.
I have one petcock that flows fuel out of the lower when I suck on the lower and it comes out of the upper also. If a guy wants to get rid of the "automated" petcock and put in a good old ball valve on a spree, what is the best way to go about it? Is it a standard size fitting on the bottom of the ...

Re: Argh! Scooter won't start + father-in-law = Frustration
Thanks, I actually have three sprees and the reed question was unrelated to the starter being stuck on spree - which could only mean a bad relay since turning the key off, etc, did not stop it from cranking and cranking its little heart out. I have not looked at the relay yet, it is sealed or could ...

Re: Argh! Scooter won't start + father-in-law = Frustration
I tried to start my Spree in the rain the other day, hit the electric starter and it stuck on. Sounds like my relay got wet / went bad. There was no way to turn it off without disconnecting the battery.
Is there still a source for reed valves for the NQ50's?

Re: 1986 Spree NQ50 No Power, Carbs Scrubbed Clean
What is interesting is this spree was running GREAT. I am running Seafoam. It just suddenly got a case of the don't wanna go anymores. I blast out the carb again. I have guitar strings out the wazoo so I can poke all the little holes out.

Thanks! I did that, but I will do it again. From reading here it seems that cleaning and recleaning and more recleaning is what it takes...

Got my piano wire today, but the smallest I could get on short notice is 0.015"
Guitar strings are much easier to find than piano strings. You gotta know a piano tuner/mechanic for that. On the other hand, most avid guitar players replace their strings every 3 months or so, some more often. As I ...
