Forgot to say, I did find the culprit here:
The threads on the carb, where it attaches to the engine, were stripped out on both of the carbs I tried. The carb wasnt tight enough against the engine opening, thus I had a big ugly vaccum leak giving me all my headaches.
Solved my problem by using 1/4 ...

Honda Spree: Lost some top end power.
So recently I was making my way home from work. It's about a 10 mile straight strip of road. I usually go about 30 - 35mph consistently the whole way. When I was about a mile from home all the sudden bam, my spree putters out and dies. I walked to a parking lot and managed to get it started again ...

Spree Up-Jet
Hey guys,
I recently drilled some holes in my airbox and swapped the stock jet with an "85" jet. I am running the stock piston size. Anyone foresee any issues with doing this? I'm going to do some plug chops later on it and see how it looks, but I just want to make sure I'm not going to seize up my ...

Re: 86' Slow Acceleration (please give me some ideas)
I have no idea if it the 85 has a stock jet or not. I've cleaned the carb on it before but didn't notice any difference in jet size from my 86'. I recently hopped on a friends 86' spree and his wasnt quite as fast as my 85' but it accelerated much better than the 86' I have (the one I am having ...

Re: 86' Slow Acceleration (please give me some ideas)
Thanks for the reply guys. I guess I just got lucky on my purchase.
I'm thinking someone probably put a big bore kit in it at some point, because it definitely has the stock engine. It accelerates really fast from 0-30. Kinda throws ya back when you accelerate. And yesterday when i was driving with ...

86' Slow Acceleration (please give me some ideas)
Hey guys.
So, I have 2 Honda Sprees. The 1985 I have runs awesome, when i pull the throttle it revs up quickly from the start and will go quickly all the way until it hits top speed. You can really feel a good amount of UMPH beihind it. Like a healthy Spree should ;P
But my 86' revs up slowly ...

Re: I've got a lonely nipple.
If its what (I think) you are referring to... it's the overflow that is located on the bottom of the carb. As far as i know it's ok that its dripping, but you may want to use a spare piece of fuel line to re-route it around the transmission case and lead it to the ground. Just to avoid a sticky mess.

Battery not Recharging
Hey everyone!
My 86 NQ50 no longer charges my battery while I'm driving around. I replaced the battery with a brand new one, but still at the end of the day it will be dead if I've been driving around. I am stuck recharging it alot with my float charger. Anyone know what parts may need to replaced ...

Re: Noob help! Spree keeps dying.
I'll work with the air screw a bit. I dipped the carb and cleaned it 2 times before I re-installed it, so I'm pretty much positive its clean. I need to oil the air filter still so i'll go ahead and do that as well. Is there a special oil im supposed to use?
I'm a little skeptical still that it is ...

Re: Noob help! Spree keeps dying.
Ok, So i finally got around to cleaning the carb! The carb is completely cleaned out and it still continues to start and idle just great. But still once i hit about 5-10 mph it dies. It seem likes its filling the carb up with fuel too slowly. I can accelerate very quickly and it'll die faster or i ...

Re: Noob help! Spree keeps dying.
So I thought when I put the Air filter back in it had fixed the problem. Well turns out it's still doing the same thing. Once my Spree revs up to about 5-10 mph it just dies, before it gets to its peak acceleration point. It starts great and idles just fine. I've adjusted the carb a little bit by ...

Re: Noob help! Spree keeps dying.
Thanks for the Welcome!
I checked the bystarter and everything seemes to be fine. I did notice that I didn't have the air filter in when I was taking it out for a first run (I had cleaned it and just forgot to put it back in) The cover was on but just no filter. I don't know if that could have ...

Noob help! Spree keeps dying.
Hi guys, I just recently purchased a 86 Honda Spree. The previous owner says he put a new carb in it last summer. It seems to run great and always starts on the first kick. But when i get on it and start driving it dies like it cant handle the weight. it will rev up and sound great when its up on ...
