Re: Newly rebuilt motor not running at its full potential.
Also the area where I live is nothing but rollings hills, which makes breaking the engine in quite difficult, any suggestions with that?

Re: Newly rebuilt motor not running at its full potential.
So I go through a few heat cycles, and then only ride on flat land no higher than 1/2 throttle varying speed for around 2 tanks? After the heat cycles when I take it on trips trips of 1/2 throttle, do I need to keep those trips short or does it not matter if I take it around a flat neighborhood for ...

Re: Newly rebuilt motor not running at its full potential.
I'm thinking my poor performance is because I haven't followed any kind of break-in procedure. What would be proper procedure to follow to break this motor in? It has the original piston and head, just re-honed, and new rings. The engine is stock with no bbk or aftermarket parts. Would I need to add ...

Re: Newly rebuilt motor not running at its full potential.
Yep new rings, my old compression tester says 20 psi, however if it was that low I don't think it would run at all so it could be that my tester is bad.

Newly rebuilt motor not running at its full potential.
I just finished rebuilding my 87 Spree motor and it starts up and runs with no problem, and when I take it out around the block it only goes about 25mph flat and down hill and 15mph uphill. When its full throttle it seems like it chokes up and doesn't feel right. I kept the same piston and re-honed ...

Re: Rebuilt engine, no spark.
Well I got the pulse generator and still no spark. So so far I've tested the stator and it's fine, new coil, new pulse generator, new regulator, new CDI unit, brand new spark plug, and made sure it was grouded properly (which it is). I have no idea what it could be.
Uh.......the start/run switch ...

Re: Rebuilt engine, no spark.
I tested the stator and it's fine, but then as I went to go check the pulse generator I find that it's missing. This scooter had so many things missing off of it when I got it, I guess I can add this to the list. So once I get one on there hopefully I'll have spark.

Re: Rebuilt engine, no spark.
Did you have the engine off the scooter ?
Make sure the wires from the engine are hooked up
one from the inductive pickup
and I think 3 more that come from the stator
Nope its back on the scooter all ready to go, and all the wires are hooked up to the stator.
If it had spark before you tore ...

Rebuilt engine, no spark.
I just finished rebuilding my 87 Spree engine, it has compression, gas, but no spark. I replaced the spark plug, coil, CDI unit, and regulator. The fuse it ok and I have the killswitch off and it's grounded. Any suggestions? My lights aren't working either (bulbs look ok), but the horn and electric ...

Re: Just got a free Honda Spree and I don't know where to start.
Well today I did quite a bit with this bike today. I found out it is an 87 spree. The engine couldn't turn over because the piston was fused and wouldn't budge. So I took apart the engine cleaning things as I went down including the carbourator. And after taking the head off I put liquid wrench to ...

Just got a free Honda Spree and I don't know where to start.
I just got a free Honda Spree today and it doesn't start. Not suprising as it's been sitting covered outside for quite a few years. Where do I start?
