Re: Spree Tires

wow, that is even cheaper than i got mine for and I thought I had found the great deal. I hope you are liking them, I've had mine on for a while now and they are good tires. Nice grip and the increased size means more top end speed which is nice.

Re: any small block Chevy guys here?

I'm a ford guy not a chevy guy but know a bit about older engines so will give you some general info on fuel economy. As mentioned, nothing is going to make a van with alot of air drag become a gas sipper but there are things you can do to improve mileage. Here are three things to consider:

Re: How-To Highly Polish your Metal Parts to a Mirror Finish?

320 grit is what you are looking for. Also you should get some 600 and 800 or you will end up going thru a ton of 1000 grit to make that jump. Then after 1000 you can break out the rubbing compound and then polish if you really want things to shine.

Re: Spree vs. Razz

if your spree goes 30 or 35% slower than a 30mph razz, that right there is your problem. The spree should be able to do at least 25mph. Mine was doing 28mph stock. When I put oversized tires on it and cleaned the carb really well, it now does an honest 33mph on level roads. I think maybe your spree ...

yep, my first guess would be compression although could be carb/jet issue.

Re: rattle can paint help(colours)

If you have a sherwin williams auto paint store in your area, they have paint with the metal flakes like you are describing. I think they have both rattle cans and in regular paint.

Re: now i have more take off

I'd like to see those vids. I got mine up to 35mph top speed with a tire change and even that feels much better than stock. It would be very cool to get it up in the 40s although I would think it would really rev it too hard to go that fast without some sort of variator.

Re: 87 spree

I have a 85 spree and did the tire upgrade and it has worked out great. My new tires gave me an extra 4-5mph without any noticable loss in off the line power. It was kinda slow off the line before and is about the same with the new tires. A very cheap way to turn a 30mph scoot into a 35mph scoot ...

welcome and alot of us are in the same boat. I got a 85 a little over a month ago and already have added a 84 to the stable. Fair warning, scooters can be addictive. I've already been plotting how I can convince my wife I need to put a big bore kit on one of the scoots :coolcruise:

that does look like a good deal. I bet someone will snatch it up quickly if it isn't already sold. If it were in Dallas area, I'd grab it.

Re: advice

been there and done that back in my sportbike riding days. It really sucks when you are in 3 digits and have to sneeze. Now that my top speed is maybe 35, I use a shortie helmet so no worries.
