Hi (not for the last time I hope);
I gave away my Spree last night. Well I advertized it for $150 and had a buyer within minutes.
When he got there he pointed out many other things wrong and offered me $40 for it. I told him that it was an insult but I would give it to him for no charge as I am ...

Re: Nut sizes on steering column (to loosen it a bit)
Hi again;
So I bought an adjustable wrench, but the retaining nut is very thin and the wrench keeps slipping of. So I will try to buy a 30mm (non adjustable) wrench this eavening.
Unfortunately the (supposedly qualified mechanic) person who sold it to me took it off and on with a pipe wrench and ...

Re: Nut sizes on steering column (to loosen it a bit)
Hi;
Yeah, I assumed that it is the bearings, but it is so tight that it is almost impossable to turn. The seller told me that it was tight to protect the bearings. Yes I knew that this was crap, but I need something to get arround on.
The way I see it, if I loosen off the steering, maybe it will ...

Nut sizes on steering column (to loosen it a bit)
Hi everybody;
I was wondering, what size is the nut and smaller nut on top that I loosen to ajust the stiffness of the steering on my 85 Spree?
Once I had the plastic off, it looked very straight forward, and while an ajustable wrench will probably do the job, I might get two wrenches for that ...

Re: Warning - eBay Loser TRMCR
Hi;
I had a similar exerience on Ebay. The seller said that he would not send my laserdisks (yeah, I am old) as the post office was "too far" to get to.
I did some reasearch, found the sellers home address and sent it to him in an email offering to have my "asociates" (I have no asssociates), pick ...

Re: New battery wont spin the starter but car battery does
Hi;
Well, I am still confused about my battery not starting my Spree (85), but for now I will carry a small battery for starting, and over the winter I will dig into it further.
Mind you, since the seat does not lock, needing an external battery to start my Spree is an anti theft thing.
I know ...

Re: I am Glenn, I am new, and I don't know what I am dooing
Hi again everyone;
Yes I miss the size and weight of an electric bike, but my Spree is a scooter and as soon as I m used to it (the electrics were about 100lbs heavier), I will be scooting and loving it again!
My front end is very difficult to turn, and the first thing is to loosen up the steering ...

Re: I am Glenn, I am new, and I don't know what I am dooing
Hi Mr, Wheelman-111;
I appeaceate the offer, and I am tempted to say fedex it ground COD. I am in centrel Alberta, so the cost might be quite high.
I do have land in outside of Deming (NM), and some near Alburqurqe, which I had hoped to be living on by now, but unfortunately (as you will see on ...

Re: New battery wont spin the starter but car battery does
Hi;
The battery connections feel good, however (as suggested) I have not checked the connections on the starter,
I charged the (new) battery with a 1 amp trickle charger, however I will try to cycle it a few times.
This help is really cool; now, where is the starter and what does it look like ...

New battery wont spin the starter but car battery does
Hi everyone;
I just picked up an 85 Spree. It is in bad shape but it does start easily, well sort of.
The battery was dead and the seller had an extra wire out the back to jump start it from his truck (and had the starter button disconnected).
I replaced the battery with a new one and while the ...

I am Glenn, I am new, and I don't know what I am dooing
Hi;
My name is Glenn, and I am now the proud owner of a 1985 Honda Spree (I got it today).
I have been doing the electric bike (scooter) thing, but recently the city police have been hasseling riders about not having there "power assisted scooters" registered.
