Re: Help, Girlfriend PWNED My Scooters

I dont know if this will help you, but, My 86 spree had starting issues to, What I found was if I just turn the key to ON and leave it there for about 3-4 mins, then go ahead and start it,. it starts fine. I think the bystarter has to fully retract or extend before attempting to start it, because if ...

Re: Tempermental Spree

Ya the difference is that you use your spree, His was left to rot somewhere. Nothing runs as good as something thatÔÇÖs being used on a regular basis.

Re: Tempermental Spree

Ya, the belt is most suspect, but if the pulley (clutch side) isnÔÇÖt adjusting in and out that would also give you problems, I know when I took my belt, clutch and pulley apart, the pulley wasn't moving that well. After I disassembled everything and cleaned it up it worked really well. The scooter ...

Re: Tempermental Spree

I say the clutch because, he said, "You have to rev the crap out of it going up hill and my friend was still able to keep up with me on his bike. If its "revving" up it would seem its not a carb issue and maybe a slipping belt or a worn clutch. Cleaning the carb is always a good idea and that should ...

Re: Tempermental Spree

I would pull the clutch and belt assy off, clean and re-grease the driven pulley spring/slider. It may be a little arthritic after sitting for so long.

Try turning the key to ON real slow, with the blinker on, and see if developed a dead spot.

Re: Newbie Iowa Restrictor

Change the clutch belt with a brandy new one. My scoot did 25 all day (non-Iowa) after I changed the clutch belt it was doing 33 on the flat and 25 up hill no problem. I assume the your scoot runs ok? as long as it runs good at all throttle settings I would'nt bother with all the other stuff.

Re: 1986 spree electrical problem?

I have a 86 spree also, when I got it, it also had the green wire melted in spots, I ended up taking the tape off the whole visible part of the harness and just replacing it with a new green wire, the whole length. the voltage regulator was bad, and I suspect it melted the wire because it was ...

Re: idle issues

It sound like the bystarter is "shuting off" too early.
