I was under the impression that the lower part of the swapped steering stem (for the lower bearing) should be retained and the upper section could be welded/plugged with the upper section of the oem steering stem. I should add I am not concerned about clearing the plastics or any of that as I will only be using the headtube and lower frame tube.

Running a little lean (plug chop). Should I order a bigger jet? One of the bikes came with an extra #85, but that seems a bit overkill (stock is #68 right?). Maybe drill holes in the intake with the #85 on there to compensate? I'll try it out

Well, busy day. Ported cylinder and intake, swapped heads to the oolder high comp head (sitting about @140psi) and did the pully mod with my ax24 vbelt. Bike is hitting 36-38mph right now! Very very happy :). No bottom end, but that's fine, I'm mostly cruising in 35mph zones, so i m not too worried ...

I didn't measure, package was labeled 26", prolly outside, but it is noticably bigger diameter than stock.
