Actually the bike has 10k miles... perfect time to rebuild because the odometer is going back to 0000. :)
I am 100% positive it is ring rattle its been there since I bought it with 400 miles on it. The stock gearing on these Hondas are very high and I bet the original owner wanting to go over 35 ...

Re: OEM honda pison+rings is honing required?
Thanks for the reply! I guess I was hoping I could buy the new parts first and have everything ready to put back together. But your right, it's best to measure the wear first and see if an overbore is required.

OEM honda pison+rings is honing required?
I have 8.5k miles on my 1994 SR50, and I think it's about time for a rebuild. It has had ring rattle for the entire time.
It runs amazing and has tons of power, but enough is enough.
I want to replace with stock Honda Piston+rings kit. I am wondering if honing is required, and if so, can I use the ...

Re: My New to me 1994 Elite SR
I have this same year bike and everything. This scoot is insane town. Throw on a keli variator and get some 9.8 gears for it. Also a ramp plate helps with the tiny amount of lag from the keli.
The gears and variator make this bike fly so f'in fast it will make you cry in your sleep because honda ...

Re: SA50 Secondary Gear Upgrade Suggestions?
I got the 9.8:1 from vt cycles and am very happy with them. Lots of mountains around here so the lower gearing helps.

Re: 2000 Honda Elite SA50P - Gear Swap
Shiba, I am the one who bought the top end from underneath you. I figured you weren't interested due to the time frame and seemingly lack of interest on your part (at the time).
Due to this top-end, I purchased another 94 Honda SR50 with a busted cylinder for 225 bucks. If it wasn't for this ...

Re: Dio Big bore swap and go?
That sounds perfect. What's the point in adding oil the the fuel? Does that not lean the fuel mixture somewhat? I always thought it allowed less gas to mix with the air.

Dio Big bore swap and go?
Ran into an amazing deal on a second 1994 Honda Elite SR50 dio.
It needs a top-end anyways, so I am wondering if there are any BBK that can be installed right in place of the stock and use all stock parts carb and pipe.
I will change the variator and gearing because that can be done on a stock ...

Re: i need help going a lil faster
Read about it on this forum. It's all over on how to de-restrict them. Top of my head its the variator, exhaust pipe, oil pump cable (or lack thereof), and a main jet in the carb. May be more but I think that is the bulk of them.
Or maybe its not restricted anymore. How fast does it go on a flat?

Re: i need help going a lil faster
To my knowledge, you are substituting a restricted variator for another restricted one. I was certain the P in the model number were the restricted ones released by Honda to keep it at 25-30 for the moped laws in some states. I believe the variator backplate for these are flat and do not allow the ...

Re: Now the Elite is TOO jumpy and herky querky II
Greetings:
Once more, the variator has no role in the launch. The connection between the engine and the rear wheel is determined at the clutch pads/bell interface. The variator should start in low gear to obtain best acceleration. Weighing down the variator with more than stock-weight rollers ...

Re: Now the Elite is TOO jumpy and herky querky II
GJBean, My 1994 elite SR was the same way. The scooter has massive low-end but zero top-end. I very much enjoyed it but didn't enjoy the revs at 35.

Re: swapping gears to 9.8:1
So the verdict is in:
with the new keli variator and these gears...
Never knew it was possible to have 1mph per CC.
With these VTcycle 9.8 gears the top-end is so daunting it had me yelling and bellowing in excitement inside the helmet. Needle was pegged almost vertical straight down into the dash ...

Re: swapping gears to 9.8:1
Finished.
Wheelman, wished I read your comment before I got started. I had nothing to remove it but a sharp pocket knife. Took me an hour or so with many finger cuts. Some places I did cut gouges into with the tip of the blade. Finally got it all done and filed it down nice with a flat file to make ...

Re: swapping gears to 9.8:1
I am confused on what washer everyone is talking about to replace. Is it number 10 or 9 in the parts digram? Is it this plastic one here in red?

Also, what is a good way of removing the old gasket meterial. Mine is a 94 model and it is welded on there. Any ideas?
