That's a good idea, I wondered if it could be the float valve. But I tested the float & needle valve yesterday and they work fine. Do you think I could be running way too rich or lean?

Engine runs fine but dies

Okay, I got the engine running but now have a different problem. When I kick-start or electric start the scooter, it fires up and runs immediately. However, it dies down after about 5 seconds. If I try to start it subsequently, it dies sooner and sooner until it won't run at all. Then I have to wait ...

Aftermarket carbs?

I've seen a couple aftermarket carbs for sale on eBay. Anyone know the original source of these? OEM carbs tend to be expensive, if you can find them at all.

Thanks MySpree.

I still don't know which way to insert the throttle valve though. Does the short notch go over the throttle stop? It won't fit all the way in if I do it that way.

Will spree run w/o auto bystarter?

I have an '86 Spree that I've been working on in the garage. 2 weeks ago I realized that the auto bystarter (auto. choke) was broken and the valve was stuck inside the carb. I removed the top of the choke and left the valve sitting there, and the scooter ran (albeit roughly).

Not satisfied, I ...
