Re: Exhaust Port Fuel/Oil Leak
I'll double check. Should there even be that much fuel in that area though? It seems weird to me that it would be coming out of the exhaust.swimmingfree wrote:it a gasket that looks like a washer look at the old jug it may be stuck in it...

Exhaust Port Fuel/Oil Leak
I just installed a new Taz top end kit and got it to fire back up. Compression is at 115psi and it is running, but I'm getting a leak from the exhaust port and it sounds like it is drowning. Has a really deep sounding idle.
Since the old exhaust port had a thread that was rusted to it, I used just ...

Taz Stock Top End Replacement Kit Break-In Instructions
Anybody have these? I've searched around but have been unable to find much. I'm ready to fire this thing back up but don't want to go about doing it the wrong way.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Stock Top End Replacement Kit Options
All BBKs will require additional oil. Most will run with rejetting the carb. To achieve top performance, you need to do additional work.
Can additional oil be delivered through the stock system or do you have to premix? I'm fine with re-jetting, I just don't want to have to buy a ton of other ...

Do most BBK's require other modifications such as airbox, exhaust, etc.?Bear45-70 wrote:You go with a stock top end, when for the same money or less you can go BBK?

Stock Top End Replacement Kit Options
I have an '85 Honda Spree that was leaned out and is only putting out 80 lbs. It's complete and was running well beforehand so I'm looking for a top end to replace the stock one that is toast. I have yet to tear it down, so I'm unsure of the current shape of the cylinder wall, however I'm assuming ...

Re: Help, Girlfriend PWNED My Scooters
In either case both motors need a rebuild.
When you say rebuild do you mean replace the piston rings as seen here: http://hondaspree.net/wiki/index.php5?title=Piston_Ring_Replacement ? Or is there more to it than that? I have the time and I'd love to get into both of them and do that this winter ...

Re: Help, Girlfriend PWNED My Scooters
Finally got a hold of a compression tester today. The '84 put out 90 lbs, the '85 put out 80 lbs. Thoughts?

Help, Girlfriend PWNED My Scooters
So I went out of town for the weekend with two decently well running spree's, an '84 and an '85. I came home to two dead spree's.
I had trouble throughout the summer getting them to start consistently unless they were being ridden everyday. To remedy it usually if they wouldn't start I would ...

Sluggish Spree Question
So a month or so I bought my first Spree, an '84. When I got it, it was running a little sluggish and would bog down at WOT. So I tore down and rebuilt the carb, did all of the general maintenance (air filter, new oil, new gas, etc.). I got it idling perfect and running as good as new... or so I ...

Do you have to rinse the mineral spirits out with anything? Or do you just let it air dry and then you're good to go?Rooney140 wrote:mineral spirits should dissolve the old oil and dirt and is less harsh than other things like carb cleaner

Flushing Oil Tank
Just picked up another Spree the other day, and I'm in the process of tearing it down and doing all the preventative maintenance, cleaning the carb, etc. After draining the oil tank I'm left with quite a bit of buildup in the bottom. I've pulled it off but I'm unsure of what I should use to flush it ...

Re: Cold Start Woes
Greetings:
There is a little brass "mini-jet" between the main bowl and the bystarter, oft overlooked. I suspect it may still be plugged, if the bystarter itself isn't the problem. The bystarter "defaolt" position is Retracted, oe "choke On", so the scooter should start if fuel can get through ...
