Re: Barn find!
Well crap. Didn't gather that bit of info when I used the search. No wonder everyone just goes ahead and posts the same questions over and over.

Re: Barn find!
It ran decent for about 35 miles total before it broke again. There's still a miss at higher speeds that we need to iron out. We cleaned the carb and ran it through a carb cleaner at a local shop and while it's rideable now, there's still a miss. I checked the airbox and everything looked okay in ...

Re: Barn find!
Couldn't find a factory Honda belt and just learned about the AX24 yesterday. It should be here in 3-4 days, which is good because something let go in the tranny last night and there's stuff rolling around inside the case making racket. I haven't taken the cover off yet. Decided to order a pizza and ...

Re: Barn find!
Picked up the Spree this evening. It's running well, but seeping a little around the float bowl gasket. Need to try and dig one of those up. It'll do about 25mph, but don't know about the mpg yet. I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow.

Re: Barn find!
A good buddy of mine did the work for me in his spare time. Wound up replacing both crank bearings (the rod bearing was fine), and replaced all of the necessary gaskets. The top end looked fine, so we left it alone. He cleaned the carb and got it running and riding. We had it running on premix ...

As far as the spree; just been a busy week. Got the top end off and it looks new. Not really any noticeable wear. Had to borrow a puller for the bottom end. Hope to tackle more of it this weekend.

1985 Honda Spree squealing sound from the bottom end
Thought I'd list this here incase someone has this same problem now or in the future.
This spree has been sitting for about 10 years. We cleaned the carb and got it to run on the stand. We immediatly noticed a squealing sound from the right side of the motor, behind the fan. It sounds like a bad ...

Re: Barn find!
Got the spree running brielfy. It'll run on the stand, but not under load. Need to detail clean the carb over the weekend. Once we got it running there was a squeal from the right side of the motor. The only thing I can guess off the top of my head is a bad crank bearing. We pulled the fan cover off ...

It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow. You just gotta have a sense of humor about it.

I like all those big block cars from that era.
Australian Shepherds are a hoot. I like this place, seems like a good group of folks. I think I'll stick around.

Wow, you don't see those Springfields down here very often, looks like it's in fine shape too! I like that H&R 1871, never seen that model....but if I had to pick one, I've always been fond of the Marlin 1895 Guide Gun. Hard to beat them for the price.
Nice collection.
