Re: Sidetracked: was Superman -vs- Kryptonite
Well, while we are talking track, here is my Camaro last time I took it to the track. I had a slower ET that day with a faster MPH. I want to say it was 11.80 at 125.

Re: CDI not working? Open it up!
I tried that on my 85 spree cdi today. I used a milling machine, it did not work too well once I cut through the corner it seemed that the top was still molded to the circuit board. Is that how yours was? Do I need to just pry the top off? Thanks

Re: Automotive A/C Axpertise
Greetings:
As I had almost completely emptied the can, the A/C clutch or belt began SCREAMING and would only tip On-Off for a half second - evidently demonstrating that it was OVER-Charged despite the gauge readings.

Re: Elite 50 (SE50P) locked up, starter???
It definitely sounds like something mechanically wrong... Take Wheelman's advice and do some exploratory surgery on it. For what its worth, when I got me spree the crank/flywheel woodruff key was missing and the nut holding the flywheel came loose and caused what felt like a locked up engine. A $3 ...

So out of both of those carbs there is not one idle screw you can use?

Re: NO IDLE -- Will '86 Carb Work On An '85 Aero?
Well at least you are only half wrong. The idle circuit always flows fuel when the engine is running, even at WOT as long as it is not plugged. At startup in ADDITION to the idle circuit, the bystarter supplies extra fuel for the cold condition of the engine, the same as a choke does.

Re: Anyone around Chambana?
Hah yeah, there are quite a few scooters on campus but it seems like most people buy that Chinese crap. I've only seen a couple sprees and an elite or two, Ill just have to catch up with them and see whats up.

Does there have to be an argument on every post in here? (note: this question is rhetorical) Everyone on here is here to help people in one way or another.

Re: How high should the belt ride on the variator?
Thanks for all the replies!
I am running the stock ramp plate.
Take the plate off of the back of the variator.
You should see a tiny bit more top speed. :thumbwink:
How does taking the back plate off help with this? I see this posted pretty much any time someone talks about a ...

It seems like most people on here are from Washington or Michigan... Is there anyone around the Champaign/Urbana Illinois area?

Re: How high should the belt ride on the variator?
Yep, everything stock. My concern is that so many people claim to get 40+ on a stock SE50, this is in a spree which is a bit lighter so I should at least be able to match that speed. Maybe I shouldn't complain about it since it is already SO MUCH better than it was with the spree engine.

How high should the belt ride on the variator?
So I've been riding around on my SE50 swapped spree and I am getting about 35 on the speedo with a 2.75 tire. When I put the variator on I marked it with a sharpie to tell how high the belt goes, today I opened up the cover and it seems like there is a little more to be had, I'm not sure though ...
