Can I do a big bore and nothing else? Or do I have to change other parts also?

87 aero 50 (nb 50)

I soft seized my motor so I am required to replace some of the inner workings of the speed demon, what I want to know is if I can simply throw in a BBK and hit the road. Or if I need to do some other mods. It has an arrow exhaust as of now. Otherwise stock.

So I have concluded that I need to replace rings and hone the cyl. Am I best off
A: oversized piston & rings (either .25 or .50) ~ $100 + machining
B: replacing the rings (std bore) ~$40
C: getting a BBK ~$150 +??

Engine sounds change relative to speed with no abnormal fluctuation...

Supposing my compression is low.

I tried that last night and my compression tester came apart..
I successfully tested it a few months ago with another tester and got in the neighborhood of 90 psi.(if i remember correctly)

what's my best bet for a boost in compression? BBK or OEM parts?

So here is my dilemma,
I have an aero 50 with a custom 'arrow' exhaust, from day one it has been gutless. One day last year I was riding at full speed(35+) and about 5 mins in it started to cut out and slow down I had to hitch a ride home... Since then it has toped out at 12-15mph

How do i get it ...

it does also have custom arrow exhaust, looks like a previous owner welded it to fit, i believe it makes the power band in the higher speeds, (i raced it head to head with my brothers stock 86 aero and they were close until we came upon a hill and i pulled away drastically.)

1: I only have the back half of the air box. Am I best off buying the air box cover or is there a better alternative like a pod filter.
