Re: Just saying hi.

Thankyou, eliteguy50. I am going to assume it is '86-'87 due to the kickstart.

Re: Just saying hi.

Could anyone here give me some clues as to what to look for to determine exactly what year this Spree engine is?
I can post photos if it will help.
Does it really matter? Are all the parts interchangeable to a reasonable degree?
I am going to read from Wikispreedia now, perhaps it can shed some ...

Re: 85 Aero 50 HELP!!!!

Click for fuel filter link.

And not any fuel filter will work for these low pressure (read gravity feed fuel systems). Some will cause to much restriction and starve your engine for fuel. My choice is the Honda fuel off the Aero 80 and Aero 125 because I know it will handle the fuel needs of ...

Re: Just saying hi.

Well now, it seems that I have a single speed AF05E engine, no variator.
Did Honda even make such a thing?
Is it a Spree engine, or a mutt engine made from junkyard parts, or did the original Aero engine get swapped into a Spree and the Spree engine into this Aero?
Anyways, I have a single speed ...

Re: Just saying hi.

Now I am getting a bit confused about exactly what engine I have.
The case is stamped AF05E and yet it has a kick starter.
Also the stator wiring goes through the case not like what the 85-87 Aero service manual shows but like what the 84-87 Spree manual shows.
It also has a 2 bolt intake manifold ...

Re: 85 Aero 50 HELP!!!!

Do not use aquarium air tubes as a fuel line. They will turn rock hard and yellow in short time when exposed to gasoline.
Go to your local motorcycle shop and get 3/16" see through fuel line. You can buy it in a bag or by the foot. The most common is made by Helix and The line I got was labeled ...

It's alive!

The Aero lives to fly down the road once again! :D
Well, almost...
The rear tire only holds air for 1 minute or so, not long enough for a test ride. :(
Am going to patch it if possible tomorrow, replace the tube along with a brand new tire later.

I clearly see a retaining clip in the photo. Perhaps the carb is not the correct one?

I am sorry to hear that you went down! May you heal quickly, and get alot more than fair compensation for your hospital bills and the loss of your ride.

Re: Repaint Honda Spree-advice

According to the good folks at Krylon, their paint is a acrylic enamel paint, not lacquer. Lacquer has no re-coat window.
You are right, I am wrong. I went back and researched it. My original mistake, first time ever using it, was clear coating it with lacquer which is a big no no unless you like ...

Re: Auto Bystarter jet size?

Thank you for the Pine-Sol technique! I has got to smell better than Berrymans B9 Chemdip! The next go around with a carb, I'll try it first.
I decided to just drill the darned thing out with a piece of sharpened twisty-tie wire. I figured what the heck, it's just an enriching device for starting ...

Auto Bystarter jet size?

Does anyone here know what the auto bystarter jet size is? This is the jet that is installed in the float bowl that feeds the chamber in which the auto bystarter pick up tube fits down into.
I am having one heck of a time getting this jet unclogged by using only cleaners/ solvents.
I know that ...

Re: Repaint Honda Spree-advice

I have never repainted a scooter before but I have painted many plastic parts.
I recommend washing the parts thoroughly.
Sand all surfaces to be painted with 300 grit wet-dry sandpaper, using 1 gallon of tap water with 1 drop of dishwashing soap mixed in a bucket.
Always keep the wet-dry sandpaper ...
