Gents, as always, your input ROCKS and is appreciated.
I will be bouncing on over to the For Sale section, and purchasing a new CDI and ignition coil. I have been without a ride for 2 weeks (well, one that isn't the public transit system) and in this 90 degree weather I need this baby running ASAP ...

Re: Electrical issue - no spark
OK. i decided not to replace anything. Before i get too far ahead of myself. Bike would run, and bumping or shaking all of the electrical on the right side would cause the bike to stall out. Especially when bumping the ignition coil, so I figured a loose wire was there. But could an ignition coil ...

Re: Electrical issue - no spark
Thanks for the input. Yes, this is the one i put the too large of a fuse in. I know its 2 problems, but my thoughts is that they are unrelated. I think there has to be a faulty wire or loose connection at play here, so i have been trial and erroring my way through.

Re: Electrical issue - no spark
The bike is a 1985 Honda NQ50 Spree. I have the guide open and the wiring diagram. When I hit the starter to start the bike, should black/yellow light up a light tester? I have gone through the wiring. The bike has everything going right, except 0 spark. I went up into the starter, engine stop ...

Electrical issue - no spark
Bike would run fine, hit a bump, stall out. sometimes would not start at all, move the bike a couple of inches, start right back up. You could not sit on it without it just stalling out. Ran great until you sat on it, then died.

Re: Faulty Brake Switch?
Can anyone confirm this is incorrect? Looks a little funky....it is the only one I could find online as a separate item.

Perhaps the generic won't work here? and I need to find an old moped?

Re: Faulty Brake Switch?
Alright Gents. Almost done.
Does anyone know where I can buy a couple of brake switches? I have removed it - and I just need the switch and connection wires. Mousewheels had hinted they may be easy to find, but a call to the local scooter stores here came up short. I would like two. Anyone have ...

Re: Faulty Brake Switch?
Oh man, you hit the nail on the head, and it wasn't her, it was me.
Tell me if this scenario makes sense. The rear brake assembly was falling apart two weeks ago. I replaced it, but during that process I shorted it out and blew the fuse. I took a 5 fuse out, and put a 15 fuse in. Could it be that ...

OK. Final Recap. Before I go buying two new brake switches, I figured I would recap everything one last time and see if you guys can confirm I am not missing something.

OK fair enough. Seems kind of odd they would both go out same time no? I swear I am missing something obvious.

Re: Faulty Brake Switch?
is it a real switch? i have followed it, i see G/Y coming out of the brake assembly on the handlebars - is it built into that? I follow that wire all the way back and i don't encounter any switches - one connection just under the speedo, but nothing i would consider a "switch"

Re: Faulty Brake Switch?
OK bossman. Thank you again. This (hopefully last) question seems silly, but where on the bike are these switches located? I see towards the end of the manual it shows me the wiring diagram - but I still don't know where to find the two switches on the bike. Are they in the front end? in under the ...

Re: Faulty Brake Switch?
As always noiseguy, I really appreciate the help.
Currently I cannot get the g/y to get the test light to go on at all. It appears there is zero power coming down that wire. Any other suggestions? I will trace this diagram out now and see if I am mossing something.
Any help is appreciated

Faulty Brake Switch?
Yesterday my wife took the moped to the store, when she got back on it, it would not even attempt to start. Pushed it home and since then here is what i have figured out.

Re: 1985 Honda Spree will not start. Totally out of ideas!
Problem solved Bear. New Spark plug and off I went. Thanks for your help, without it I would have taken it to the shop and probably been scammed a couple hundred. Much appreciated.
