I have a freshly honed cylnder off an 89 sb50p if that would work for you. I'd buy new piston/rings, worth the $50 if would cost.

Sticky "stuff" coming out of head gasket by spark

Have an 89 sb50p that I just put new piston/rings. Going through the break in period, starts and runs well, but there's this sticky/oil type residue coming out where the spark plug screws in running down the outside of the head gastket. I pulled the head gasket and it was a little sticky on top.

I ...

cylinder

I have the same model, had the cylinder honed but has some rough spots still, any ideas where I can get a good used one or what to do next?

That stinks, fortunately I don't have that, crank is turning fine, piston going up and down, had a little trouble putting the belt side back together, took awhile to figure out since the back end had stayed in place when I took the crankshaft out but got it and it spins just fine. I fouled out my ...

Nothings rubbing, the noise comes when I wiggle the flywheel back and forth, but the pumps working, I pulled the tube off the carb and turned the flywheel and oil was coming out the tube. But the not starting has me baffled. I took off the head gasket, cylinder/piston, no oil down in the crank case ...

Here I go again, oil pump and starting help

Starting a new thread this time. I have a 1989 sb50p, thought I needed new bearings on the crank because of a funny noise in there, tore it apart and found out it was actually the gear in the oil pump making the noise. But since I had it apart and an extra pump, changed that out along with new ...

You may be able to have the cylinder honed if the scratches aren't too deep. I had my son take ours to the HS shop and they did a very good job, ordered a stock piston and rings (about $55) and have good compression with it for a heck of a lot cheaper than a new cylinder.

I'm not sure (had one of my sons bring some 2 cycle oil home from the marina they work at - it's used for jet ski's/PWC's), but will cyphon the oil out and get new stuff, any brand recommendations? Thanks

Looks like I maybe should have started a new posting, sorry.

Yes I'm running with an air filter, using 2 cycle engine oil and have never done a plug chop, haven't really had it in running condition long enough to have the opportunity, died on me after using it about 6 times after buying it last ...

piston scored

Started to take everything apart to get inside the crankcase to check/change those bearings. Just put the new piston/rings in the other day, ran it a couple of times maybe went a mile, left it idling in the garage for a few minutes. Wanted to see if the piston/rings still looked good but no go, the ...

Been working on a 1989 sb50p, new piston and rings, running but making a noise that I think is coming from the bearings in the crankshaft. When the piston is down, you can wiggle the flywheel back and forth a little and there's a clicking type noise in there. Wondering if they are easily accessible ...
