Re: FYI - Reed block wear/failure pics enclosed

I believe I have reed issues on my Gyro as well. I have had no luck in finding the block assembly or just the reeds. What was your cure? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
MM

Steering wobble

There is quite a wobble in the steering on my 85 Gyro. There doesn't seem to be any free play in the bearing so I don't think the nut is too loose. Is this normal or is there something I should check to correct the wobble?

Re: Gyro - general thread

Has anyone ever put knobbies on their Gyro? I just put a set on so I can take it in our garden. It looks pretty cool. Now if I could only find a Muffler stay so the dirt and debris doesn't get in the flywheel. I'd send pictures but, as always, I can't figure out to up load them.

As soon as I get ...

OIL, Synthetic or Regular.

I went to my local "Cycle Gear" store for some 2 cycle oil. They only had synthetic. My question is, is Synthetic recommended over regular 2 cycle oil? For a 20 something year old bike I have my doubts. What is everyone else using?

Re: Neidhart Rubbers

Barbers is a great event. It's always in October. Lots of scooter parts. My friends and I have a vendors site on row A. I hope more people will come, although it is usually sold out. There is also an auction, races, and of course the swap meet. Let me know if I can be of any help.

Re: Neidhart Rubbers

Thanks Mike,
That's the answer I was looking for. I'm not that familiar with this scooter, but after removing the lower swing joint housing I have learned much. Especially with the engine in the bike. The shop manual says to remove the engine which would make the job much easier.
Thanks for your ...

Re: Neidhart Rubbers

Exactly.
These parts " locking plate and locking pawl " work with the parking brake. I still believe the Neidhart rubbers are responsible for keeping the bike up right when at rest. If you rock the bike from side to side it will come to rest in a vertical position. Assuming the Neidhart rubbers are ...

Re: Neidhart Rubbers

That was my original post. After reading some responses, I wonder if the rubbers are the real problem?
The condition I am experiencing is the bike falls to one side or the other when at rest. I may have wrongly assumed it was the Neidhart rubbers. What exactly is the mechanism that causes the bike ...

Neidhart Rubbers

I bought a 1985 Gyro at the Barbers Vintage Days meet. It will not stand up straight. After dismantling The Joint shaft I discovered the Neidhart Rubbers appear to be formed incorrectly. I presume they are supposed to be round. At least that's the way they appear in the manual. I have been searching ...
