UPDATE: i got jacked.

they guy never sent the engine, i got screwed for $160 or so... 3 others got ganked by this sack of s*** as well...

life in the big city i guess...

i'll find one sooner or later...

if you need the ease of the pump, get a new one, you can trust it. you can either put it on and calibrate it, or hang it in the 'cable failed-full oil' position...

if you don't just premix.

32:1 is on the 'lots of oil' side of the ratio spectrum, with a good synthetic i'd be comfy at 40:1

the difference is he's proposing to build a unit with gaskets that have been compromised by deing dis-and re- assembled (subjected to compression) versus a unit that has been 'run-in' components wearing together... with gaskets that were fresh when installed...

half-assing is it's own reward, and these aren't exactly F1 engines, are they?

just give that jug a scuff, slap it together and see what happens? whats the worst that could happen? air leak, crank bearing seizes, crank twists, rod bends breaks snd shoots through the cases..

in 1986 my inlaws paid $453 out the door, tax included, for my wife's spree. I have the invoice.

in 1985 they were $399 out the door almost....

i'm afraid after looking at burnttoast's pics, the cases i bought do not appear to be 1998, they look like cases prior to 94... if any of you can take a look and tell me for sure send me an email where to send the pictures before i pay for the things...

i've got a '98 engine coming from ebay. cases, crank, gears and a few other things-

do the electrical bits from the sb50 interchange with the 94+ motor?

here's an interesting excercise- if you had about ~1200 budget to build a motor, how would you go, and where would you source the ...
