Re: What oils is everyone using?
Switched to Honda GN2 for the last 1000 miles or so. ZERO smoke or odor. I'm happier. It's under $7 at the dealer which is way cheaper (like 40%) than the Motul I was buying at Cycle Gear. I'm way happier.

Replacement ignition switch (ebay)
Bought my scooter with a lawnmower ignition switch wired it, the seat lock removed so you just pulled on the cable to pop the seat, and the glovebox was locked with no key. The ignition switch worked but only two wires were hooked up so it would disable the electric starter when turned off, enable ...

Re: What do the numbers on contra/torque springs mean?
It's as simple as putting a stock contra and stock clutch with stock springs in and looking at your tach as you twist the throttle. When the clutch engages that's your answer for clutch springs. And when you feel it "switch gears" as its called that's the ratting for the contra. Done

Re: What do the numbers on contra/torque springs mean?
Greetings:
1. +1000, +2000 refers to the delay in shifting behavior compared to stock RPM.
2. No one knows. Measure according to my post with a bathrrom scale to obtain a spring rate in Kg./cm. or lbs./inch. The measurement that matters is within the length range of the spring mounted in the ...

Re: What do the numbers on contra/torque springs mean?
Typically anything with a numeric value on aftermarket parts indicates the total rpm difference between that item compared to the OEM item. I.e. 2k clutch springs have approximately 2,000 rpm delay prior to clutch engagement.

What do the numbers on contra/torque springs mean?
I get that clutch springs saying 1k (1,000) mean they allow the clutch to engage at about 1,000 rpm above the stock level.
I don't get why a contra springs ("torque spring" at scrappy dog scooters) would be rated this way. They're labeled "1k", "1.5k" etc. Is that number related to rpm? spring rate ...

Re: SA50 looking for 45 mph and decent takeoff
variators...The stock ones are aluminum/steel, so are aftermarket ones. A malossi, or polini will suit you just fine...
Cool.
...Gears and a variator will put you at 47-51 top speed, cruising nicely at 40-45. A vari kit by itself, should put you around 42-45 top speed...
Right.
...at that ...

...2000 SR, completely stock, put a variator in it...
Which variator? What weights?
...top speed was about 38ish acceleration was amazing, wheelies all the time...
Gosh that must've added quite a lot of low-end. I want a scoot anyone can get on and ride without wheelies.

SA50 looking for 45 mph and decent takeoff
Greetings! I've already researched this quite a bit and done lots of math so if you have input as to engine building or any gears other than the 15/42 secondary set that yield a 9.8:1 final, please post that over here .
I have a 98 Elite SR that's completely stock and running well. I enjoy it and ...

1man8scoots sounds about like 1woman8cats or 1kid8facebookprofiles. Too much time on his hands to spend arguing nonsense. If you find a chinese clone with wheels that fit I'm sure that info would be much appreciated. I'd probably start with GY6 stuff or Ruckus/Metros but I don't know ...
