Re: 1988 honda elite sb50p engine swap

All you need is a new rear wheel. You can even use the tire and tube from the sb50 wheel since its the same size.

You can leave the front alone and run the stock stuff up there for now. The stock af18 will have great acceleration, hill climbing power and a top speed of about 40mph. Once you start ...

Re: 1988 honda elite sb50p engine swap

Many people have done this exact swap over the years. Its a cool Colorado winter project to tinker with. Easy completed by giving it an hour or two here and there over the snowy Winter months. Its not you’ll be riding much with the roads iced over anyways.

Re: 1988 honda elite sb50p engine swap

Any Af16-18 will fit with some minor modifications. The wiring is a simple swap of the main plug underneath. The shock mount to the frame would need to be moved slightly unless you use a long shock and dont mind sitting higher. Fuel and vac lines need to be a bit longer and so does the rear brake ...

Dirt in crankcase = RIP crank and rod bearings

Pinching off the oil pump line and running it dry is bad juju. It spins by way of the crankshaft. Except now its spinning/pumping with no lube. Doing this long enough would eventually cause thermal breakdown, seize the pump, create excessive heat and ...

Re: Honing a cylinder. How much?

Sound advice from bones as usual.

My 2 cents: a proper CHT gauge is vital. When breaking-in a new build its important to watch the temps closely. Not being properly jetted or air leaks could quickly burn up a fresh Corsa. When cruising your scoot during break-in, be mindful on HOW FAST the temps ...

Ferry2Ferry 2025 is coming!

Its that time again! Dust off the ol’ girl, clean them carbs, tune em up and come on down! 300-400 mini motos, scooters, mopeds, and everything inbetween ripping through the Olympic Peninsula with some of the most beautiful scenery Washington State has to offer. If you only do one cool thing this ...

Re: Honda lead NH50 1990 - belt cover

A bigger hammer….Ive seen people goop them on with RTV before. Make sure theres not a hiding bolt still on the underside.

The kicker’s moon gear could be jammed up inside. Take the fan shroud off the other side and spin the fan back and forth to see if the crank spins freely. If it spins fine ...

R.I.P. your connecting rod. Needs a complete overhaul with all new internals. See if Treatland has what you need. They deal with old moped stuff. If not, look on ebay for some decent used stuff.

Re: ‘85 Spree - No start condition again

Having a fully running Spree as a test subject is helpful in diagnosis when youre stumped. Start swapping parts, piece by piece, until you strike gold….CDI, starter relay, ignition coil, stator, carb, etc…

Something hidden will eventually reveal itself.

Re: ‘85 Spree - No start condition again

Im still thinking theres an airleak somewhere. If fuel delivery is proper and spark is present….the air must be way off or you’d get ignition.

Maybe not “running” but ignition at least. Sputter, cough, puff..

Re: ‘85 Spree - No start condition again

Check the reed petals? Its pretty rare they fail but I’ve had one petal snap off before and causing runability issues…but it was a cheapo reed valve that came with the china intake I bought. Ive also had the crank seal on the stator side pop out for no apparent reason. Also had (what I thought) was ...
