Re: Fuel, spark, compression - no start
Easy fix is if the temp is above 380 then you upjet AND check for any air leaks into motor. The high temp represents a lean condition and you have to remedy it. It's not hard to find the problem.
Yeah if it was running, problem not is getting it to turn over. 95% sure its something to do with a ...

Re: Fuel, spark, compression - no start
Yeah so I heat cycled it like ten times while letting it cool completely between each, then rode it up the street and back. I probably should start putting a trail temp on them after a top end rebuild. Carb is cheap amazon one which I still do wonder what that extra nipple is coming off the engine ...

Re: Fuel, spark, compression - no start
Won’t even pop with premix added to spark plug hole. Which tells me it’s possibly not getting spark. That said, turning it over with plug held against frame its definitely getting spark.
Do you get a spark with the plug grounded to the head/engine rather than frame?
Yes definitely good ...

Excellent thanks, one wire is not connected and meter shows half full when the tank is full. I’m ok with that.

86 fuel sending unit wiring on 85 Honda Spree
86 has the 3 wire
85 has the 2 wire
Do you just connect the two wires and leave the other disconnected or ground it? If left disconnected does it melt the wires or cause any further electrical issues?

Re: 1985 Spree No Start
Checked both left and right crank seals today, both were new in 2023 and neither is blown out or leaking.
Pulled the exhaust and some oil ‘did’ come out of that.
Pulled the cylinder and the bore looks nice and smooth
Piston rings are both intact, piston looks good too
I will try and crank it ...

Re: Mounting tubes tires
Zip tie method, best thing ever and dish soap using three tire spoons.
I insert tubes into tires first off the rim.
Using zip ties, close the tire down together without pinching the tube. Go entire way around tire with zip ties
Lube up edges of tire with dish soap
Insert the tire valve into hole ...

Re: New Member with ? About Model Year
Next time you take apart the starter, get a close look at the wires on the armature winding just after they loop around the hook and see if any are broken. I’ve noticed this several times on these starters. It is possible to rewind it just takes a little time. If broke it may spin over then hit the ...

‘86 and up had the kickstarter and exact year should be on the frame if you take the leg shield off.

Re: ‘85 Spree - No start condition again
What does the spark plug look like after a long starting attempt?
I installed a china carb on mine a while back. It was still difficult to start but runs fine after it finally starts. Has never started cold using the elec starter. Now it's getting harder to start. Starting fluid no help. When I ...

Re: ‘85 Spree - No start condition again
Yep thats next step if the right side crank seal is intact. I replaced them both in 2022 on this one though so should be good but will check. Left side is definitely good.
