Before: Max cruising speed of 35 mph
Performed tune-up with new plug, new wire/coil, new air filter. Decarboned the muffler. Installed new engine variator and kevlar belt.
After: Max cruising speed of 40 mph

SE50 Air Box Mod
The cover to the air box on my '87 SE50 has a "snorkel" mounted on the inside. I've been advised to take it out. Any idea if doing so helps performance? Would I need to richen the mix, e.g., adjust the needle valve, to compensate? Thanks!
