Thanks to everyone for being persistant in telling me that the idle jet was plugged. I had cleaned and recleaned the carb, but obviously wasn't getting the job done right. Anyone have a good suggestion/tool/procedure for getting the idle jet out of the carb for cleaning (next time :-)

Read my earlier call for help. this thing starts for about one second and then quits immediately. Leave it sit for 10-20 seconds and it repeats.
1. carburetor and main jet are clean
2. clean fuel is pumping- carb bowl is full.
3. air and Idle jets are set to initial positions

still trying
All seems to be in good shape. Really seems to run a few seconds and then quits-seems like it is running out of gas. I am going to go back and recheck the float height. any other ideas appreciated.

Haven't used it for a while and I just can't figure this thing out :-)) 87 spree was running great-then got to where it would only idle. Cracking the throttle would kill it. I broke the autostart (choke??) so bought a new one. It will start and rev up for about 3 seconds and then dies--just like it ...
