Should be able to hook you bystarter to a good 12v battery. Measure it before you hook it up. Hook it up to a battery and let it sit for a while and then check the measurement again.

If your plug is fouled it will run like *. Get a new plug or if you have an aircompressor get one of these.

It may be so out of whack that it is adjusted to run good cold and then once it warms up does not. Mine does not run too good when cold but zips along nicely when warmed up.

Pulling the by starter and using your finger allows you to simulate a closed bystarter and adjust the carb to run with it ...

if you jump it and it starts.....it's the battery. I have found it needs good juice to start.

Give the battery a good charge and try it. If it won't take a charge, time for a new one.

Give this a try. Mine was doing the same thing.

Pull the bystarter and start it up.
Wait untill it gets to operating temp
put your finger over the by starter hole. If it starts to die out remove your finger to keep it running. keep putting your finger over the hole and at the same time adjust the ...

If it's running rich you will foul out a plug in no time. Pull it and see if you are getting spark. My bet is that you are not. Do the simple stuff first. It was running chances are it should run again.

If it is fouled out you will need to get another plug, which can get expensive while you are ...

Plug Chop Results

Ok. On my '86 Spree plug chop at WOT is very nice brown just as it should be. 1/2-3/4 throttle it gets black. Put it back in and run it WOT and it goes brown again.

Scooter idles fine. Carb is clean, new air filter, good compression. One thing to note is that I do have the bystarter disconnected ...

no voltage to choke terminals

On my '85 spree there shows to be no voltage at the terminals from the wiring harness.

Makes no difference whether the scooter is running or not.

It must be toast. I did and...nothing. It was in the "down" position when I pulled it out.

Looks like time for another one.

Any one have a good one?

oil drip and other stuff

A drip every 5-10 seconds...Cool...that's what it is doing.

Now that I know that is working......but I am not getting any smoke out of the exhaust. It is runnning rich as the plug is fouling....plug cleaner is one of the best things I ever bought.....my cb750 used to like to foul plugs.

Carb has ...

wont start

I too have a "new" spree and the new battery just was not providing enough umph and was showing enough voltage.

I ended up putting jumper cables to it, hooked up to my truck and cranked until it started. Now it starts off the battery no problem.
