Re: spree hard starting

Well just got home from class and went out to figure this out. Before I was about to take the battery out I thought I'd give it another try. It fired up within 4 seconds AND the battery fired up as hard as normal??? I swear it was dying this morning.

I will definitely splice into the vac line ...

spree hard starting

I went out to go to school today and the spree would not start. It drained the battery and I had to walk........
It hasn't been started for probably 2 weeks. It is a little harder to start if it sits for a while, but I can't believe it didn't after draining the whole battery. The temperatures have ...

Re: 84 Spree starting issues - quick help please!

Alright, I got it started! Replaced vac & fuel lines, spark plug, cleaned carb, tested by-starter (good), and charged the battery. So we'll see how it does tomorrow on another cold start.

Re: 84 Spree starting issues - quick help please!

Not sure what you mean by the second comment....when I tested it by putting it on the battery the needle moved the length it should and in the time its suppose to.

I tried starting it both of those ways. Before, when I had trouble getting it started, I would just spray a bit of carb cleaner in the ...

84 Spree starting issues - quick help please!

I just rebuild the top end on this Spree and had trouble getting it started. After replacing many fouled out plugs, cleaning out the carb several times, and a lot more battery recharges (electric start only) the thing finally fired up and ran great. It had no problems during any type of driving, but ...

Re: Another 84 Spree that won't start

Alright, I'll give the carb a real good cleaning tomorrow and let you know how it goes. I'll also put some seafoam back in there.

Another 84 Spree that won't start

Just rebuilt the top end on this and it fired up and ran pretty good. I don't know if it was a mistake or not yet, but I put in a several capfuls of oil in the gas tank to aid in lubrication on this fresh engine. Then I read that wasn't a good idea so I put some seafoam in there (don't ask why, I'm ...

Re: bad fuel shutoff valve?, no spark

I think I'm correctly understanding how it works??........I stick a screw driver in the top and push down on the rubber tip and the spring beneath it compresses fine with good resistance yet, but there must be some way that the air is escaping because like I said, when vacuum is applied the air just ...

bad fuel shutoff valve?, no spark

I just rebuilt this 84 Spree and it isn't getting fuel. I took off the two hoses coming from fuel shutoff valve and sucked on the vacuum one and there is no pressure. The air comes right through. No fuel comes out of the other one either like its suppose to. I can apply vacuum or blow into the ...

Well, an elite 50 is what I found next. The guy with the Spree would not come down in price at all.

So the Elite is supposidly in great running condition as well. Its an 1989, says it runs 33-34mph, sat in storeage for 5 years, original owners manual included for $650. He wanted another $25 to ...

Alright, unfortunately that Aero was sold before I was able to go and check it out but...............I did just find a 86 Spree by me that seems to be in excellent condition. He's had it for only a year and the guy he bought it from just had the engine rebuilt, new battery, carburator overhaul, and ...

Prospective Aero 50 purchase?

I think the price that is being asked is a bit high, but I thought I'd check to see what you all think. It's a 1985 Honda Aero 50, decent cosmetic condition, supposidly runs reliably. The asking price is $650. If that doesn't sound right, what do you think I should go after it for?
