10mm is a must for about everything these days.....but I'm pretty sure I used an 8 and 12 on my Spree also...I dontthink I ever needed my short well sockets so I had the deep well the whole time. #2 Long shank phillips and straight...long shank needle nose for the clips on the fuel lines. Sometimes ...

Now a new problem...
85 Spree cranks right up runs fine (for a while) then cuts off...let it sit for a bit (or push home) and it eventually cranks right up. Sometimes in less than 5 mins...sometimes a bit longer. Once I was riding around the neighborhood for about 15 mins, stopped to talk with a friend, it was shut off ...

Two questions...
Just have a couple questions....
1. When drilling baffles in the exhaust, I wasnt paying much attention apparently and I let it drill through the outside of the muffler under that plate thingie. What damage would this cause and will standard muffler tape be OK to cover up hole.
2. I decided to do ...

Now that I have it running fairly well.....
Flat road it does really nice...I weigh 256 pounds and have my 85 Spree going a blistering 27 MPH.....30 leaning over the handlebars. My 19 y.o. son says it goes 35 but I dont believe him. Now I'm working on the uphill power, long incline and it slowly lost power till only going like 10 MPH, this is ...

It sounds a bit like what I just went through today after cleaning the carb out. Try squirting a bit of starter fluid in the air intake to jump start her a bit, then when she is running the vacuum will pull gas to the bowl. This is coming from a noob also that is learning fast by reading about every ...

Sounds like your top screw to carb needs adjusting. Tighten all the way to the right and come out 2 complete turns then start it up....you may have to turn it to the left a bit more...I think mine is about 3 turns out while my middle screw is 2 1/4 turns out. I 've read each scooter is different but ...

I thougth I saw in the manual that 10w40 was OK to put in...when I drained mine it was a creamy color, which usually means water/moisture...although mine had not been run for quite a while when I found it...that could explain. Question...is 10w40 OK to put in or is there something better recommended.

The bystarter is a plastic apperatus that is attached to the top of the carb by a bracket and 2 screws, there is wiring coming off of it to a wiring bundle.
Cleaning the carb is prolly a good start 1st, I took mine to a small engine reapir and they usually have a carb cleaning thingie it can soak ...

drilling exhaust?
alot of people have mentioned drilling the exhaust from the end opening.
1. What size drill bit is recommended
2. The little end opening is at an angle pointing downwards a bit in relation to the main large exhaust tank (I guess to direct the exhaust towards the pavement) with the small opening I ...

I've already gotten to it w/o dropping the motor...if its the tube (90 degree goose neck thingie) that attaches to the carb on one end ....then bends downward to the motor with the reeds on the bottom side(which is squarish in shape. on the round side(next to the carb) which is seperated by a thick ...
