Re: 84 Spree Starter Trouble

Tried pulling it out and cleaning it this weekend (replaced the belt while in there).

It works better, but still gets stuck about half the time. I half to then walk away for a bit and if I come back it works again. I ordered a replacement bendix for now- it's still sitting idle while the weather's ...

Re: 84 Spree Starter Trouble

When I moved it by hand it wasn't seized, it was a little sticky though. I hit it with Cleaner wiggled as far out of the case as I could then lubed it up with some lithium grease.

When I started there was a good deal of gunk on it. While I'm in there I assume I should replace the belt- anyone have ...

That's what I was leaning towards. Should I get a replacement off of ebay?

84 Spree Starter Trouble

Been a while since I've been on here, but I moved to a location where I had to take 55mph+ roads to get anywhere so my poor spree sat neglected for the last 4 years in the corner of the garage...

Long story short- younger brother needs cheap transportation so I pull it back out, replace battery ...

Throttle Sticking open on Spree

I have an 84 spree that the throttle will occasionally stick open on. I am wondering what I can do to prevent this. I replaced the throttle cable- my old one was hard stuck and wouldn't adjust. Can I replace the spring in the carb end of the cable with a stiffer one?

ok, i thought that might be the issue, the slide seems to be stuck, it isn't moving freely and it stuck only about a .25 inch off the end of the throttle cable. What is causing it to stick like this, or do i need to replace the throttle cable, the throttle liked to stick before i rebuilt the carb.

Throttle Trouble after cleaning carb 84 spree

I cleaned my carb the other day because it was running a little rough. After putting it all back together the throttle is messed up. I read the other articles about lining up the slot in the throttle cable with a notch in a carb and I have done that, but it still runs with the throttle wide open and ...

So is this indicative of a problem with the bike, or was I just going too fast for it to handle?

Speed limiter on a Spree?

I just bought an 84 spree this weekend and have been running it the first part of this week. Runs pretty good, I've already put about 25 miles on it. It needs a new muffler(the one on it has holes rusted in it) and some other minor work and overall I'm pretty happy, the only issue I have ran into is ...

New Guy with General Questions

I am looking at buying a Honda Spree 1985 and I have a question. I know that they are two stroke, and I was wanting to ask you experts here how they smell when running. I have had older 2 stroke dirt bikes that stink so bad when they run, and I was wondering if the Spree is plagued with the same ...
