One of things lost in the modification were the centerstand tabs. If I would have looked closer I could have kept them. I figure that I will add a kick stand.

Would you have run into clearance issues with the motor mount if you would have kept the centerstand tabs? Looks like you cut them off ...

an initial idea for a mount. other option is to get a square channel of the same size as mount body, and install/weld a round channel pipe. Motor attachment would be location right above kickstand.

SpyderMike - Your install looks very clean! If you can manufacture another one of those mounts, I may buy one off of you! I assume you took the factory SB50 mount, and added the channel/bolt location.

i have the same issue with my 89 elite E - the starter gear has a ton of grease on it, and does not have a good spring to it. I have to manually pull out the mating gear of the starter gear shaft to the drive gear to make contact.

i'll try the cleaning technique

unfortunately, no matching helmet, but I have a bright red puma jacket and shoes. The helmet is a full face with black out visor, so it looks pretty stealth.
