I know the difference, trust me, and I still don't think it's worth it.

Like I said, for the $ upgrade the engine and get a set of "performance" brake shoes with some better material.

Speaking of which, I assume you went through the brakes, checking cables and lubing pivot points?

I checked ...

I did check for glazing and wear and cracks when I checked the brakes a few weeks back. they were in perfect condition. This feels like the typical old drum brake issues. I used to have a 71 Kawi H1A that had front dums and it acted exactly the same way, until I put front disks on it. It just doesen ...

So, your saying more than $300 in parts? I would still like a list of required parts for this conversion. This morning a light turned red on me, and I had one * of a time getting stopped before I ended up in the intersection. And I just checked the brakes 3 weeks ago, and they are perfect. I know ...

Thanks for the info folks!
I have contacted VT cycles this morning, and am waiting on the reply now. As for checking the Adv Tech section, I found nothing there regarding Disk brakes.
Hey noiseguy, how is the ride on knobby tires? Am I going to have issues rideing on the street with them?
As for ...

Need to "Beef Up" the ride

I need to know what tire/wheel combo's might fit on my 87 Elite. I want to go with something bigger and a bit beefier. And also, what about shocks... I am kinda a big guy, and my scoot sometimes bottoms out the suspension on big bumps at higher speeds.
Thanks in advance.
Oh, and is there a way to ...

Cold starting issues....

This just started happening yesterday morning, I go to start my scoot, and it starts first shot, then dies within 30 secinds. I continue to start it and it continues to die. This happened like 30 times yesterday morning, until I readjusted the idle and it stayed running. Now the idle is a bit on the ...

DIO question

I asked this question on another post regarding this matter, and did not get an answer. I am wondering if my 87 Elite SE50 has the DIO motor.
And are the parts available at scooter assasins for the DIO going to fit if it is?
Oh, and please don't laugh at me, I am new to the whole scooter thing ...

Well, that freakin sucked!!! I went to the DOL to get the title transferred and new tabs, and they inform me that because that it has been over 10 years since the bike has been tabbed, that they purged the title, and it will be a week before they can get it restored! This SUCKS!! it is 80 degrees ...

Anyone gotta carb diagram for an 87 se50?

I found some gunk in my carb, and need to clean it. But for me, I am one of those visual kinda guys that won't touch anything mechanical without understanding it first.

Japan parts question

I have read where several members have "japan only" parts on their scoots. I also read something about the japanese versions not having the front blinkers sticking out so far as on my 87 Elite. Is this correct? Or did I missread it. If this is correct, is their a supplier that I can order the japan ...
