The aftermarket carb on my own AF16 also behaved differently from the stock PA Keihin, only mine won't start without throttle when the engine is WARM. Bones gave good advice on trying the cleaned-up stock carb, the clones just never seem to work quite as well.

We had the season's first Cool Front, Temps in mid-80s instead of Mid-90s, and a WHOLE lot drier. Scooter runs SO much better, suggesting my 90 and current needle position was way rich. It was smoky, a little poky, and a lot of 4-stroking that no longer happens. But it did continue to ...

Yeah, a legit plug chop on a bike with a clutch means cutting Ignition as you pull in the clutch. On a CVT scooter, the engine keeps spinning after you hit the kill switch, and the unburnt fuel "washes" the plug for at least a few thousand cycles before you pull to a stop and unscrew ...

Thanks, Meatball! I still have my PA carb - cleaned when I installed the Clone, just in case. I think the microscopic air screw O-Ring in mine had a little defect in it, so it leaked. Fortunately I have a collection of replacements for them too,

Freaky hot & hoomid weather in Deepinnaharta makes for a lot of 4-stroking from excessive richness. Can't summon the Gumption to try dropping the slide needle. Worth a try? Yeah, but did I mention it's Hot?

I'd start with a 92. Check temp gauge if you have one or read the spark plug after a few miles.

Congrats on finding this Rare Bird. I think the '87 box was unique to that model. Nearly certain the SB won't fit, but the SA might be adaptable. The other option is a cone filter and appropriate jetting change.

As I understand it, the Aero/Elite carb's bystarter fouls something on the engine side, so it won't fit.

Same engine as on the 86 and 87 Aero, and the Elites from '88 to '93. '85 Aero had no kickstarter pedal.

Yes the bystarter is on the wrong side of the venturi. It's for an Aero or Elite.
