The air filter is clean, lightly oiled. But it won't start at all with the air duct attached. But it will start if I plug the carb opening. I think it may just be that my bystater not connected is making it idle too high or something.

I finally got this thing to start, BUT only when I put my hand over the opening where the air cleaner tube connects. When it starts, it idles very high and then turns off. I tried to adjust the idle screw but its not doing anything.

The bystater is disconnected due to the wires being torn off from ...

I checked reed valves. there is no seperation or corrosion on the petals. They look clean and the hinge and flange, gaskets all look great. I need to clean out crank case but other than that its good. So I will test this soon.

What about the fuel tank? Is there a small filter right above where the ...

I checked the reeds, everything looks ok. What am I looking for? How do you get them unstuck?

I have the same problem as the thread starter. I have cleaned the carb at least 3 times. But I have not checked the reeds. That is next. When I suck on the vaccum fuel does come out. I have prefilled the carb before but after I hooked everything up, it still did not start. I am still working on it!

I might have lost the air mixture screw spring when taking the carb apart. Would this affect starting? Also, would any hardware store have these little springs?

still no start

After repeated attempts, still cannot get this thing started! I guess my next step is a rebuilt carb. It cranks over ok but will only start if I put starter fluid in there. And then it only stays on for 5 seconds and sputters out.

ok, I will fix the BS

So what you guys are saying is that this scooter won't normally start with a bad bystarter? If so, this could explain why it didn't run well when I did have it started.

Where can I get a new BS?

almost got it going

I cleaned the carb better and installed it. I took the bystarter off cause the wire tore off. I sprayed starter fluid into the carb and it starts but accelerates real fast and then shuts off. Does this mean at least that my ignition system is working? Also will these run without a bystarter?

And ...
