Re: no fuel getting to cylinder???? gaahhhh

well, i checked the reed valve and it looked fine to me. then i opened up the cylinder and the head had about 1/16th inch of really hard black buildup which hadn't previously been there.

in the end, i have a second spree which i can't license because it's tabs expired in the '90s, so i pulled the ...

..okay? well there's too much back pressure, i know what compression feels like. the starter can't take it, and there's no kick start. any suggestions other than know what an engine is?

it's much more than compression. i talked to someone else who said i could be that the exhaust is clogged up. this would make sense, there's a lot of buildup. i'm going to grill it when i get the chance

Odd problem with scooter #2

I managed to end up with two '86 sprees :D go figure. one of which i've gotten running almost perfectly, the other i just started on today.

the problem i have is that there's a TON of resistance with the head on. if the piston is off, you can grab the starter gear and turn that just fine. with the ...

huh. yeah that would make sense

so what passages would be "related to the bystarter" then? I felt like i've cleaned it out pretty well. If the problem is for sure in the carb though, i could get a lot more intense about it 8)

Help!!

My scooter runs great, except when starting cold. It will idle, but once you give it gas it just dies. But, once you manage to get it up to full speed for so much as an instant, it runs perfectly. Am I just completely inept at controlling the air/fuel mixture, or is there something bigger here? I ...

Scooter dies when coming to a stop (..sometimes...)

My spree that I've been working on FINALLY runs now (yay)

but if I'm cruising and then quickly come to a stop the engine typically will die. It seems like it needs way more air because it kind of sounds like it's suffocating. But, if i give it some gas for a few seconds it'll settle into a high ...
