By looking at it, I'd say that carb is far from new. Rebuilt, rather than new.

I got mine from Greg at uspmale@yahoo.com. It showed up ready to bolt on, and I had my Spree up and running in no time, and he gave me a fair price.

With my 240lb butt my Spree gets about 80-90mpg, but with my wife (115lb) it gets about 120mpg. The guys driving their Hummers laugh at me at the pump, then I show them the $1.06 total that will get me around for a week and they cry

And have them look for a can of A.I.R. to fill their air filters with, along with some blinker fluid

Bystarter teardown

Here's a link to the teardown in the Technical Documents area of this forum. Pretty much all of our "newbie" questions can be found in there and by searching the forum, with a minimal amount of digging. Good luck :)

Replace the spring, it should only run you two or three dollars at a Napa or equivalent parts store. I'd wait for someone elso about the rear brake, I haven't encountered that (yet) and would like to know what to do as well. So all the scratches and gouges are from you, huh? :D Good luck!

I'm running 2 stroke injector oil from the stealership. Now that I think about it, the Spree smokes a heck of a lot less than my weedeater

Shouldn't the slot in the slide be down? I'm assuming so, to make room for the idle adjustment screw. Am I wrong?

When I set the screws to the specs in the manual (1 1/2 - 1/7/8 turns out), my poor Spree tries to take off! It revs up really high, and the only way to slow it down is to screw the air screw all the way in, and the idle screw almost all the way in. As for the carb gasket/spacer, it's on correctly ...

How much smoke?

How much smoke should be coming out of the exhaust under acceleration? I've got grey to white smoke, not a ton, but noticable. What's normal?

idle adjustment problem

I've had some previous problems carb related (http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=2424), and ended up taking "noiseguy"'s advice and getting a rebuilt carb from Greg. After getting it hooked up, she fired right up. The problem is, with the air screw ALL the way in, and the idle screw ...

Was there an elevation change? I know when I moved from Denver to Maryland I had to mess with my old moped to get it running correctly.

I think I'm going to do just that. I'm not going to send mine to him for rebuild, rather get another one and just hold onto the old one. Thanks for the help!

So I tore everything apart today, and had the same results. I did, however, find that the auto bystarter had a break in it and the needle wasn't able to engage the port correctly (it was a break in the part that holds the needle straight). Would this have anything to do with the problems? How about ...
