A gentle reminder to ride safely

Hi folks;

You might remember me, from a few posts I've made around here putting my 85 NQ50 back together and working and such. This place has been a great resource getting a scooter noob like myself up to speed, so to speak. My spree was as close to stock as one can be after my engine blew up and I ...

A strange buzzing sound, and it's resolution

Hey folks;

The saga of my spree continues. I've been riding it to work (~ 50 km a day) while my Ford POS sits sucking up money in the driveway. I figured I'd mention this for the benefit of others who may encounter it.

A couple of days ago I noted a new buzzing sound from the Spree. My Spree makes ...

Re: NQ50 * going downhill, clutch/belt issue?

The story of the mirror: When I got this Spree used (only about two months ago) it came with not one, but two of those stupid little square replacement mirrors. Maybe those would be okay if you were two feet tall while riding, but I can't see a thing with them. Luckily the fellow had the other round ...

NQ50 * going downhill, clutch/belt issue?

Hi folks;

It's me again, with the continuing saga of my 85 Spree that blew up and I've been reassembling. (History here and here ).

Currently my Spree is back to pretty much stock condition - new piston, cylinder, rings, gaskets, air filter, thoroughly cleaned carburetor, and the 'slightly larger ...

Re: Interchangability of reed blocks on NQ50

Hey, that's good news. That gives me something else to try when I'm putting the rest back together. Thanks for everyone's help.

Interchangability of reed blocks on NQ50

Hey folks;

So bit of money and parts later, I'm trying to reassemble my blown up 1985 NQ50. In the teardown I looked at the reed block and noted a couple of tiny chips out of it (one on the lower face which is probably fine, but one is under the reed mating surface), and one reed not sitting 100 ...

Hi there, welcome to Canada:

I have some pictures of this bad, bad boy on flickr.

When I say "bad", I mean "bad". This is a 1985 model that I bought used when my car was out of comission. Used is right. I got about three weeks and ...
