thanks, I saw you post that the other day but couldnt find my way around the site well enough. Today I found the oem parts lists with prices. Looks like I can buy a complete set for 15 or the two individual pieces for about 3 bucks.

Where to find Elite gasket sets??

I'm in the process of tearing down the engine on the '88 Elite 50. I found vtcycles with a search but they dont list parts that aren't performance and I dont have any part numbers. I just need the gaskets for the jug and head. Let me know!

I did a compression test the other day and got 100psi in the cylinder. I remember using oil to test for damaged rings in an old car of mine so I tried it in the scoot. For some reason I no longer got a reading, not sure if it was too loose in the socket or not, and when I was trying to crank it I ...

I was under the impression that new batteries charged as soon as I popped the top and added the chemicals.

Please advise if this isnt correct and I can throw it on the bench overnight.
thanks.

Nope, you have to atlease charge them for 6 hours.

Aww *! I'll be sure to get it on the charger today ...

it seems my terminology is tripping up the replies. By 'doesn't do a full cycle' I mean 'doesnt go vroom, just a brump, brump' while cranking.

The battery was purchased new last week so I'm sure that's not the problem. When I tested for spark, I knew it was getting to the plug but didnt check at ...

Still not turning over?

I checked the air filter, I guess it just needs to be oiled again. Also removed the rubbers from the carb and soaked it with the bottom bowl off in Seafoam for about an hour.

After hosing it clean with an air compressor I replaced it and added some starting fluid to see ...

UPDATE: I pulled the carb and airbox. The filter is in place, the carb had gas in the bowl and fuel line so I guess I just need to clean it up a bit. Off the cuff I would guess the jet coming out of the bowl is clogged.

AARG! Elite still wont run. Compression test results.

So I just threw a new engine in the Elite the other night and replaced the battery. Earlier today I got good compression and tested for spark at the plug. I figure if those two are in order the problem is fuel.

I took the filter off and dumped some premix in the carb and got a light 'glub' with the ...

SA50 to SB50 motor swap, can I keep the rear wheel assembly?

I'll be doing an engine swap from sb50 to sa50 sometime next week and I've been doing more research while the engine is on the way. Originally I thought I would only have to mess with the mount and spring, but does the rear wheel assembly change?

I'm just getting the engine with muffler and rear ...

good looking crew. I'll have to get a few pics of mine up after the motor swap. Those MMM badges tease me so, I'm gonna have to come up with a few catchy initials down here in Texas.

Is this a matter of cutting and welding the motor mount?
