OK, I took the started out..same rattle was there...
Found it was a loose baffle in the muffler.
Replaced the muffler, like new again

I have a 1986 Spree NQ50. I use it around the "Pits" at race tracks..
I've had it since new, it has a little over 1200 miles on it.

The noise comes from the area of the kick starter,
sounds like the starter bendix isn't retracting after start up !!
I eliminated that situation by removing it.

I went looking for a wire harness problem first.
I uncovered multiple connectors in a cover on the left side in front of the engine.
there were 2 plastic connectors with 2 wires each, and 4 single connectors,
as I was moving them the tail light came on!..I cleaned all the connections
and everything ...

My problem is. yesterday it would not start with the starter,
kicked started OK. at the same time the horn and tail light
didn't work.
There is a fuse, inline with the ignition switched power.

Is this the fuse beside the battery?
I did check that one.
Are there any other fuses?

did any of that stuff work when you kick started it and set on center stand and rev it up??
the small genterator will make things work but you have to have the bike running.

If they did work your battery is toast (yes even a new battery can get toasted now and then. It
may just need to be ...
