OK! Bought the racing clutch and installed it. It helped, but still having problems getting up to speed. I feel there is something wrong with the variator and possibly the roller weights, but I cannot get the nut behind the kickstart off. I can't seem to figure out how I can stop the gear from turning while I torque off the nut.

Also, it doesn't look like my current belt cover is going to do the trick, as it no longer fits over the racing clutch. Any recommendations on a solution that doesn't involve tedious dremel tool usage?

So I went to a local mechanic and had them get the variator off of the driveshaft and holy crap are my roller weights dead. (funeral pics for them are attached)

I noticed that there seems to be an area for me to screw in a cover for the pulley/variator, but I was told I didn't need one from the person who sold me the racing pulley. Is this true?

Anyway- now I'm looking for weights locally as I'd like to get her running tonight. If I can't find any, what weight of rollers would you guys recommend for a 210 guy riding this thing?

As far as the trans cover.

You can either cut it in half so the variator is the only thing covered or like you said dremel and grind on the inside until the whole thing fits.

Buy a cheap roller pack with multiple weight to see what suits you best .Then buy a nice Italian set .

What clutch did you buy?

Well- My clutch cover is already in two pieces- I'm not sure if mine was the first year they started doing that, so I can only put half back on- I just want to make sure that isn't going to kill anything

If your trans cover is already like that then just run with the half over the variator on only. That is fine. I forgot what year scoot you had.

Some on here say rain has no effect on the trans getting wet but I don't have first hand knowledge of this. I wouldn't run it like that in the rain but thats just me.

Well- not a whole lot of rain here in LA- but as long as others are doing this I don't think it should be a problem.

Does anyone know where to get some good Daytona Rollers?

Go without rear cover. It will help keep that new clutch cool. I ran all summer like that, and it gives belt dust a place to go. I don't ride in the rain so i don't know about rain slippage.

Unless the rain's coming down in buckets, the pulleys are hot enough to keep themselves dry. I use my cover just because it looks cool and the scooter's a bit quieter.



There's that dual-layer UNI filter. I've used both. You can't tell the difference and no jetting change required. Saturate either in oil and squeeze out the excess. Clean it once in a while.

Your cover does look good, i just like seeing the mechanicals behind cover. Plus it's easier to just leave off than customize like yours. Trust me, if i did something custom it would be on there

She runs! I put the new weights in and she's back in action. I do however notice that my variator looks very worn, so I'm going to grab a new one off ebay. Also- since changing to a thinner belt, I've noticed I'm not getting the same top speed as previously... is this to be expected?

No, it should be quicker if anything with a new belt installed.

BUT.... with new weights this could have an effect on your top speed as well.

Everything effects everything.

Thats why I said in a ealier post to buy a cheap roller pack to see what roller weight suits you best. THEN.... buy a nice set

As far as the belt, I read in one of your earlier posts that it is thinner than your original as far as the width?
That shouldn't be. If anything it should be wider considering the old belt has worn down.
Do yourself a favor and buy a nice kevlar belt .
