yes 12/47 is in the aero.the next thing is to swap in dio gears with the dio cover.then you can have all the ratios available.

Greetings:

I believe there's a lot more to it than a simple gear, axle and cover swaps. See the Sticky about SA/Dio gears in a SE50. Several critical dimensions are incompatible and at least some machine work may be required to get the correct alignment. Malossi 67-6458 kits still lurk on dusty shelves in some European countries, awaiting the last AF05 owners still enthusiastic enough to consider performance mods. I got mine from England last year. Another Forum denizen just received some from Italia.

The ratio produced by those primaries Malossi is 7.83:1, which is quite tall to be driven even by a carbed and hot-piped 65cc Big-Bore. A ZX conversion possibly can restore acceptable off-the-line acceleration, but remember stock is 11.097:1, so ~8:1 is quite a big leap. The rare 10:1 ratio in the "S" model of the '87 SE50 is probably a better option overall, especially if you can manage to shoehorn in a 3.50 rear rubber. Sadly nothing in-between can easily be adapted.

YMMV

speaking of shoehorning-
i squeezed this 3.5 in my SpreElite-
it rubbed UNTIL i aired it up!
very close fit but i think it will do. i gotta ride it and see if it rubs under load though.

Greetings:

Tight fit eh, Mookie? Great job, but your Octopus is doing something obscene with your tranny vent hose. Are you just recirculating those pesky hot hydrocarbon vapors through the engine? Very Green!

Anyone gearing an Aero or SE/05 up to 7.83:1 Malossi gears would do well to consider retaining the stock 2.75 or a 3.00 rear tire. Otherwise it gets pretty tall for take-off.

IF im not mistaken, anything 2.75 or 3.00-10 is still classified as J-type tire and "should" be good for speeds up to 100km/62mph.
That being said, I dont think id feel too comfortable with the stock tire above 50mph myself. 3.00 or 90/90 seems like best for gear mod.
I personally am going to try these malossi gears in my aero, however for wheelie power im considering the elite se50 10:1 gears, as up here
(can) that scooter was available for 3 or 4 years instead of just 87. Can ZX conversion be done on aero, se/05 trans?
