Spree wheel sizes...

I want to get new wheels for my 85 spree!!! what am I limited to??? I want something like the 12 inch daytona wheels with the 8 hole pattern, but without the 800$ pricetag. Where is a good place to get different wheel selection??? Also I want to stretch and possibly lower it an inch or 2. How much work and How much harder is it to handle like that.

I also will just use it for back and forth to work kind of stuff. Back roads through town no more than 25-30 mph. Any kind of upgrade harder shock/coilover I can get? I would like to make this my winter project for spring 2010!!!!

How interchangeable are Honda ruckus parts also???

first off i don't have a clue about Spree wheels.
BUT aftermarket wheels for one is/ would be WAY down on my
list of upgrades for one.
is the bodywork/running gear in good nick?
if so then-
a BBK-big bore kit
OR
a Dio engine conversion.

that is unless you simply want wheels for it and if so then i'm all for ya...

Let me see if I've got this straight. You want LARGER wheels, which will make the bike taller, but you want to lower it at the same time. Physical impossibility.

Next, you want to find fancy wheels for a vintage scooter. That too is a near impossibility, especially considering the aftermarket counts the Spree as a losing situation.

The Spree is just right for the speed you anticipate and the wheels are fitted for that speed. Best investment is an overbore kit to give you a little more power. Beyond that, you get expensive.

Sounds like your best bet might be to buy a Ruckus and leave the Spree as it is.

along with the big bore he can get a set of gears and stay stock on the wheels and tires and get good top end. near 40 maybe 40+

Thanks for all the input. This is what I'm going for as far as looks of wheels and lowered. I know this is the jdm version... Also i'm not really looking to go more than 40mph... I want a scooter that turns heads.. I am a REAL NOOB at this stuff, but have replaced the head of my KA24de engine in my Nissan Silvia S13.. I have access to a welder, and my pap has a fullsize milling machine and 2 lathes in his little garage machine shop(he retired from the navy depot as a machinist). so i have the tooling but little knowledge on the technical stuff engine wise, but i can fabricate almost anything... How about the Ruckus parts swap ability...

The handlebars are mounted on a BMX-style stem. Heard of this part before, but not sure where to point you for that.

The rear has a stretched engine mount. Custom job. The Hawai'i boys have the most in-depth knowledge on that. The engine's decidedly non-Spree; it's either an AF16E or an AF18E from a Dio. Looks like they used some sort of gearbox between the final drive case and the wheel to move the final drive up and away from the stock location to would allow for a big tire. No idea what sort of vodoo that would take.

Body panels? Rare as *. Cut your Spree panels. Those that are lucky enough to have Eve Smile panels won't sell 'em and there are no aftermarket moldings at this time.

i looked at the linked section... looks like i could make one of the viking pieces... not that it would be easy... the engine is like my spree engine but with an extension on the variator thing with a gearbox thats stretched and attached???

Look at the picture again, where the rear wheel bolts to the final drive. There is some sort of aluminum assembly in between the wheel and the final drive casing. Look at any of the stock Sprees and Elites on the site; they don't have that part. I assume it's there to move the wheel center so the wheel/tire combo will fit. A stock Spree engine casing barely has spacing for a 2.75-10 tire. Wheelman has talked about tires on his Elite; he's running larger tires, but I think they're 90/90-10s. A 12" wheel with tire combo isn't gonna fit unless you find a way to move the rear axle from it's stock location.

Edit: Check these bikes. Only one is stretched, but they're both running 10" rims and don't have that thing poking out between the rear wheel and the final drive case:

ok so i made progress on my scooter build since this thread was created and after some research using my friends welder...



and buying a welder (small lincoln mig) i wasn't happy yet... so i did this

The parts that are on the red bike that you first posted is in japan and extreamly modded.the only thing stock on it is the panels and frame.the wheels on that bike cost around $700,the front end assembly another $500 and engine another $800 mildly built.The only way to get aftermarket wheels for your bike is to do a frontend swap and engine swap.no wheels are available for a spree plug and play.The only thing you can do is chrome dip your stock spree wheels or powder coat them to make them look different.

i dont think you could've picked a more expensive bike to try to replicate. i've drooled over that eve many times, but i know that someone dumped a ton of money into it to get it to that stage.

you can do anything with enough time, skill, and money.

i have been flying around the internet at break-neck speeds on different sites that sell parts and whatnot... even some local shops in central PA... i have found that...

monkeybike.uk sells those (two-piece 10") wheels for about 150-160USD shipped from the UK... plus tires/tubes

i could possibly use a performance based chinese front end triple tree setup (Forks, Tree/Stem, Disc Brakes)... probably 300-400USD for all of that.

i do have immediate access to a machine shop and now a welder... so if need be, i can custom fabricate stuff.

i might try and find a gy6 motor to swap in...

You will need the front a rear hub to bolt on to the wheels which is a 4x98 bolt pattern on those rims from that company.I know this is because I have already contacted them a year and a half ago. dio hubs are 4x140.you could also have a machine shop redrill holes to fit dio hubs but that can get costly and instead of 4 mount holes you will have 8 holes.
