I was wondering if there are any Bay Area people who ride on this forum?
So, i bought my scooter, mainly because I've always wanted one and also because I no longer own a car and i needed a form of transportation on Saturdays that could take me from my home in San Francisco to work in Redwood City. Since it's only a 50cc I'm, of course, avoiding the highway and sticking to the backstreets. There are a few different routes that avoid the freeways on Google Maps, but I was curious if anyone in the area might know of the best/safest possible route to take from San Fran towards the South bay on a 50cc?
For now, I think i'm going to be going Bayshore to El Camino. I'm hoping it will take me less than 1.5 hours to get to work. But, I guess we'll see.

Greetings:
CellarDoor axt about the safest routes:
Perhaps ask someone who commutes on a bicycle in the area - they usually find the safest pavement. Good luck.

From my limited time driving the Bay Area, the safest route for a Spree rider in San Fran. is strapped into the back of an El Camino. For now, I think i'm going to be going Bayshore to El Camino.

Most of my money is spent on scooterparts. The rest is just wasted.

Bay area here... former SF, now El Cerrito.
But... haven't done that route....
If I need to go that far, I cage it.

Well, just to update. My first Saturday trek to work consisted of me taking Mission Street to El Camino and driving El Camino all the way down to Redwood City. It wasn't too bad except for the temperature around me. It was a bit cold after riding for about 30 minutes. I definitely need better winter gear starting with better gloves. It only took about 1 hour and 10 minutes to get from San Fran to Redwood City. Not too terrible.

What did you buy as far as a scooter and what speed were you going the whole way?cellardoor wrote:Well, just to update. I'd rather be riding my Aero!

I have a 1988 Elite LX 50cc. It has about 800 miles on it. I was doing about 25 to 35 the entire way down.
