jb weld?

Is there anything that will stick to aluminum (scooter motor) and not be affected by gas/oil? I thought i saw a picture one time with a bead of in crankcase used as a stuffer. JB Weld states "petroleum, chemical, and acid-resistent". BUT...use on fuel tanks, radiators, cracked engine blocks, etc. Places the JB Weld would be in contact with fuel, oil, and other chemicals.

I was reading some more at JB Welds site and they say JB Stik is resistant to 300 degrees and...

The JB Weld that's in the 2 tubes is resistant to 500 degrees. The stik looks easier to use. So i'm assuming it's resistant to fuel and oil to 300 and 500 degrees depending on stik or tubes.

The 2 part JB Weld isn't that hard to use and works good. Ive used it to repair a radiator and a go-cart engine that had a crack in it. Worked fine both times. Clean the area well and mix it 1:1 and it will work wonders.



I once used it to stick about $5 worth of quarters to a cement walkway. Saw a fellow out there with a hammer and chisel trying to remove them. Most were still there, but the ones that were gone had cement still stuck them since there were little craters where they were.

Ive used it on a plastic Gas tank on a go-ped. It should work well on an engine casing. If JB weld cant do it, nothing can!
Besides its a cheap alternative to a new one!

Greetings:

For a reliable bond, wash with solvent a couple times, then hit it with a clean rag soaked in acetone. Make sure the acetone is completely gone before applying the JB Weld, but it's not like that takes very long.

Solvents may nibble at the edges of the bond, but the scooter will be deep in a landfill before that's a problem for you. 2-part outperforms the stick by a mile. You can't roll the stick without getting some skin oils kneaded into it.

The sidewalk quarter caper is high-laryngeous. (I laughed out loud.)

another JB weld question-


will it work for adding a mounting bracket on an exhaust to bolt to the case? or will it get too hot? the exhaust i just bought has no mounting brackets, so i'm exploring my options.

no that will not work. to much vibration will rattle it loose or snap your jb weld job.

i used jb weld when my crank stripped all the splines on it to weld the pulley on i hope that makes sense it worked it was hard and a mess but held me over till i got a new crank

I know exactly what you're talking about. Same thing happened to the 87 elite i bought, i just don't have the desire to fix it. I got other projects.

Oh heck no it isn't, look around online you can get Devcon in a small tube that's less than the 1lb tub.
