Okay. Once again I swerve off topic ( :b2t: ) from 50cc scooter/rods, and apologize accordingly.

It's okay to swerve off topic every now and then... I think... :?:
Definitely understand that "not trouser friendly". I don't carry all the time, but just when I go to the city at night. The Amtrak station where I have to pick up my son when he comes in from college is a bit scary. The 45 is hard to hide in summer, but okay under a winter coat.

I've considered carrying on the scooter. Does anybody?

Dan, you just moved to CA, didn't you? Have you gotten a carry permit there?

A carry permit in Cal is a contradiction in terms. Only two people allowed to legally carry gats: poreece and nobody else. {rimshot}

Seriously, it's virtually impossible to obtain a concealed carry permit unless:

A: You're a jeweler or person handling/transporting jewels/cash and/or valuables on a daily basis.

B: You're an authorized security employee whose company vouches in notorized/legal fashion you're trained in firearms and your job requires it.

C: You've managed to convince the local poreece firearms task force a nasty, intimidating felon with a rapsheet longer than the line at the cops' donut shoppe, that said felon is intent upon waxing your a*s, and you'd kindly appreciate permission to level the playing field in some small way in order to keep soul and skinbag attached. :bowrofl:
D: You're a retired poreece orificer yourself and have varifiable proof you 'train' regularly.'

Other than that, you be purdy much outta ruck - at least in the major metropolitan areas (where ya really need it :eyeroll: ). Rumor has it that the rural counties are a bit more lenient.

Hope you and yours enjoy a great Xmas and healthy, happy NuYear, sir.

on the "Concealed Carry" topic, i never knew it was so difficult to obtain one in CA!!

-i have had my concealed license for about 8 years now, and i ALWAYS carry my Glock 17. Here in KY, it takes FOREVER to get your license, and it cost a total of about $275. (class, test, shooting skill test, state police check, etc) After passing the test and paying the fees, it took about 4 months for the process.

me too... sorry for the *off scooter topic* posty.

d***, in michigan, you have to do the police check, and take a class i think for 3? nights (correct me if im wrong all you michiganders) and your final test is to shoot 8 rounds into a 8X11 piece of paper consecutively without missing.

Yeah. you're mauser in .380 was it? that's alot bigger then my big red 9, (9mm)

Yeah. if i were to need anything to fend people off with in my house, i'll reach for the 1911. thats right about nothing's better then a .45.

To the contrary. Both shoot same size slug, but the 9mm has longer case and packs more powder. 45ACP is slower, but packs more wallop. Most LEO's in this area carry 45 for backup.

We're off course again, so I'll ask again... Anybody carry while scooting? Just in case you meet Jason and his crackheads?

On the topic of weapons, I don't scoot empty handed. Every time I get pulled over they approach me with guns drawn (registered CCW, they know I carry it).

I have a .380, everyone seems to say they're big but mine is quite small. So easy to hide it in my belt...

You either have a discrusting police state, or a bad reputation with the law. I'm on first name basis with the Police Chief, Fire Chief, Sheriff, and a number of the officers and HP. Makes a difference. I'm also first responder and direct traffic on our street (busy intersection) while waiting for help to arrive. I've never been checked for weapon. Being a part of the community goes a long way in relationships with the LEO's.
