Hey guys, 1st post here looking for some help.
Recently bought a 1985 honda elite 150 for $700. Ran it all last summer and put about 1200kms on it. Great buy so far.
Looking for a little more speed though. Thinking about maybe a custom exhaust and maybe a filter mod of some sort? Is there aftermarket air filters for these scooters? How about mufflers? Any ideas? I also heard tell of a mod that will allow no rev limiter? Anyone know any information about this?
Thanks guys and sorry if these topics had been beaten to death. Im new here and new to scooters, so Im just looking for some help. Thanks!

Re: Honda Elite
Hi miller95:
there are virtually no performance parts made specifically for the CH150. You should be able to squeeze about 8-10 mph more out of it by switching the carb for a 30mm flatslide and adding a pod filter.
The exhaust is fairly restrictive, but I know of no ready-made performance alternatives. I've heard of some people welding in a wider tailpipe to make it less restrictive. You could check the inlet on the exhaust header pipe. There is often a thick welding bead around there that can be opened up and smoothed out to improve things a bit.
Acceleration can be increased a bit by switching to 20 x 15 11g slider pulley weights. If I remember correctly, stock weight is 12g and the variator used to be packed with lithium grease. The grease isn't really necessary now with newer style rollers. Won't help your top speed though.
Of course, the downside of some of these mods is that you will loose some of that legendary Honda reliability that seems to be a hallmark of these scoots. I don't think CDI rev limitation is much of an issue on the CH150.

Clivester is exactly right. A friend of mine bought one a year ago and found nothing as far as upgrades for it.
He added a bigger tire in the rear and gained a few MPH if that helps at all.

Re: Honda Elite
What is your top speed now, I have an 85 150 that would only hit 40 when I first got it all I had to do to get it to 63 was clean the vaccum slide in the carb and adjust the valves I don,t think they go much faster than low to mid 60,s
Re: Honda Elite
Getting about 110kmph right now, sorry for the km as Im canadian, lol.
Whats a pod filter and where do i get one?
where would a get 30mm carb?
Also I see everywhere on ebay theres exhaust for Gy6, I think. What does this mean? Will this fit my model scooter?
Thnk Im going to find a nice muffler somewhere and probably do a custom exhaust with a custom filter. If i keep a stock carb, I assume I would have to re jet then??

Re: Honda Elite
That's about 68 mph which is toward the top end of typical for the CH150.
Check out unifilters. http://www.unifilter.com/online%20catal ... ersal.html The stock carb has a 48mm opening, so I'm not sure if a 1-3/4" or 2" UP4182ST or UP4200ST is best. If I remember correctly the 1-3/4 is too tight and you can use the 2" with a sleeve.
Whichever carb you switch to will require jetting work. To begin with I'd just add a pod filter an rejet the stock carb which is a 26mm Keihin VE.
If you decide to go bigger, you could try to get hold of a CH250 or Helix carb if you want to stick to a CV type or buy a flatslide/d-slide 30mm carb (Mikuni/keihin - expensive, Oko - cheaper). They have a larger spigot, so you would have to bore out the rubber manifold a bit.
Mufflers for the GY6 do not fit the Elite engine. The GY6 is horizontal, while the Elite is vertical with the exhaust out the back end of the cylinder.
