Wisconsin title questions

Post by eliteguy50 »

Do you report the miles on a scooter when you transfer the title? I have a Wisconsin title and it says exempt under the miles but we have to report the miles here in Iowa.

Is there a moped designation on the title anywhere? Under chassis type, my title says cycl. Does this mean it was registered as a motorcycle rather than a moped?

Thanks

Year and Model? I live in Iowa. Iowa will go by VIN. I have a 85 spree, on the title it is classified as MS.

2000 elite S. I registered it as a motorcycle so that I don't have to put that flag on it. This is more or a curiosity got my cat thing.

not always. They will go by the model(the vin always is the same on the frame but the model designation can be changed on the title) and the prior title. If another state lists it as a motorcycle, that is how Iowa will title it because Iowa's laws are on the more limiting side. You have to file a petition to get it changed back to a moped (had to do this with my Gyro S). You also have to do this with older models that had to be titled as a motorcycle because of the laws at the time, like the 25mph limit for a moped...
