new variator question about clutch spring

Post by ldrancer »

what should i use. hahahaha.

here's some info. well, here's the problem. i got a new ruckus kn variator. i put it on a elite sa50 2001 sr. 5500 miles on it. 35 mph top speed before, and down hill around 43mph. now if i get a little downhill 42 mph, flat around 38, just no power to get any higher, and downhill about 52-53mph. pretty steep downhill or around 48-49mph. didn't have to shave anything i checked.

well, there are these hills, that i pull up, and i get to the bottom, and i kind of slow down to make the turn, and then go up the hill. i would pull speed all the way up pretty much and get up to 26mph and hold it, starting at 15mph. now i start going up the hill at 15mph, and loose speed. and it keeps going slower and slower until im up at the top, going about 14mph. maybe starting at 19mph. i was thinking something, and was going up the hill the other way, and it was slowing down from 14mph, when usually i pulled the hill faster and faster up to about 28-27mph, something like that. so i was going about 16 then it was slowing down, got to about 14mph, then i stopped. stopped to a complete stop, then took off, and it gained speed like usual all the way up the hill.

what i was thinking, is it's shifted to second, and not shifting down. i have stock weights in it. im not for sure the weight, maybe 8.5 grams. so do i need a torque spring? clutch grab springs. what springs, and maybe i should mess with the roller wieghts. im going to switch to the zx trasnmission when i find out enough, and put 8.4:1 gears on it. and i'm going to put a unifilter on it, because there easy to get around here, and up the main jet. the engine is stock. what kind of spring would i want to use now, for torque and clutch grab, and then after zx trasnmission switch, and then gears. or maybe gears then zx transmission. and i like the way it shifts now, when i floor it, it goes up to about 26mph before i hear it shift. before it was 21mph.

i have all the springs coming in, i bought a set. just wondering cause i'll have to take the clutch on and off and put the spring in. what's a good spring to use. and it is kind of hilly around here, enough hills that i would probably want to get it to shift a bunch. i mean it's straight, but then you'll get on a hill you don't want to get stuck on. that you would stress the engine with, i'd say once every 2 maybe 3 miles. not big hills, then are around every 8-10 miles. so there topography and wondering about changing gears on myscooter.

from what you say is happening, sounds like the rollers are to heavy.if you have the 8.5g rollers, drop down to 8g rollers. If you don't have rollers then put the 1k center spring in.that should do about the same thing as droping the weights to 8g.as for changing gears,if the hills in your area are steep.going with the 8.5to1 gears will kill your hill climb even more.the only way to get the 8.5to1 gears to climb those hills is to get a bbk.If not get 10to1 or at the most 9to1 gears for the stock engine.

listen to bakaracer. i just installed the 9:1 gears and i cant imagine going any taller of a gear on the stock bore. especially if you are already having a hard time getting up hills.

Whats with the attitude? are you going to turn this thread into an arguement like you did another?I'm just speaking from experience as I live in a very hilly place now and lived in a hilly place growing up where I started playing with these scooters 20yrs ago.If i were you I would change the attitude a bit if not your not going get any responces to any future questions from people.

ruckus kn variator is light bigger than any dio pulley, that why speed slow down and belt will not ride higher.

ruckus kn variator is made for ruckus only ,not for elite sa50/ dio motor.

it is not bolt on and go, the word is tuning

8.4 is good for mod 72cc bore.

ok i get the part about the gear.

now, im not yelling, i don't want to yell. i just said i was going to wait for another response. i guess i can forget it now though, the only person i expected answers from passed on it. i guess i can get my clutch springs and do it myself. it will tell me much more than you.
i don't need your crap. read. it's neat thing then communicate. your reading comprehension is so oblivious to facts. the topic says variator questions about clutch spring.
in your reasoning, then whats the point of a clutch spring. ever, if you can just go down on weights in the variator. until your so light, you can't go lower then you use a spring for even more tension. can you explain that.

go back to 3rd grade enlgish.
