Keep an eye out for odinxxx's gear install coming soon to a thread near you.
There also seems to be some trouble with the gears as they are making whirling/grinding noises in 2 installs so far. I would wait to see how those people figure out the problem before you make it #3
taz is working on them as well ive been emailing him about them ive got that problem with the whiring rear gears now and i havent got the taz gears yet i was hopeing that they would fix it
ill post some pics of the install a little later. taz suggest removing the washer behind the clutch gear said it worked for him but it made it louder for me. it just feels as if there is a wee bit too much backlash in the gears. noway to fix that since we cant move the gears left and right. i thought maybe after a little while in the oil they will quite down but its too cold here to run them around. maybe next week when we have that 40 degree day ill get a chance.

I installed a set of the gears on one of the spree's before I sold it and it was a bit un-smooth in the * end. So I took the washer out and it was smooth as silk. Maybe in your case you might want to try to add another very thin washer and see if that helps. It is funny they are all the same scooters but different sometimes. Just trying to help. I have sold over 100 sets of gears and I have had no complaints about a whirling sound. Keep me posted.
taz its nothing against you man, but like you said they are the same yet different. wheelman suggest that the spaceing may be bad due to not haveing a gasket(honda has discontinued them). the noise has seemed to lessen a little since i redid the rear end so maybe it has something to do with the spaceing.

mine has the wine now and i havent installed taz gears yet i tryed spaceing the gears in and out and took out the locators for the trans cover and shifted it around a bit i made it better while on the stand but it came back after a ride or to my rear wheel has a small buckle in it i thought that was the cause just trying to get another wheel now
the backlash i refer to, its like an up and down,if you grab the tire and slightly like to spin it forward and backward you hear the gears knock, its not an in/out slop.

Yeah I like it, a bit of science and math and you get a lot more out of your two stroke. I don't like hearing about you having to push off from a stop. At that point you probably have lost the race.
Good job so far.
I did not know honda does not carry a rear gasket for the gears. I should get some made for me. they might sell. Did you check your bearings? Maybe there a bit of slpo in them? just curious.. I did not have that problem with the gears. They where smooth for me after I removed the washer. How many miles are on your spree?
