sanj, -you have outdone yourself yet again, my man.... SUPER clean build, dude. (and i know for a fact that it's ALL clean; right down to each and every inch of your engine, fastener, bolt, nut, bracket)
I love the PG pipe, too. Thanks for posting up your pics....

Thanks for the kind words. I'm going to take some studio pics in the next month or so, and put a new seat on there. The one installed at the moment has seen better days, but it serves it's purpose as a daily rider well.

Great work, Sanj! You've been a big help to me along the way too.
Q: Now how do nice, respectable Texans get their hands on these non-US models? Will you be able to get the DPS to recognize it and procure Texas tags?

Most of my money is spent on scooterparts. The rest is just wasted.

It took 8 months to find a donor frame in the US. The original owner who was stationed in Japan moved to New York and brought with him a Dio ZX (where the bike was officially 1st registered in the U.S.). He in turn ended up selling to a guy in Florida that had the bike shipped to him. Since the second owner was over 6' tall, he discovered the space between the seat and handlebars was too cramped. He then bought an '87 Elite 50 frame, which is longer in the footwell, and swapped the drive train into that bike.
He then posted the frame in November 2008 on Craigslist and I grabbed it for $200 shipped. Thank you Google and Craigslist.
This past December I had the title transferred to my name. I couldn't get it registered right away until the scooter was inspected since it was an out of state title. I got the inspection done yesterday, and went over to the tax assessor's office right afterwards. They had me on my way in under five minutes with a new registration and license plate. I went for a 50 km cruise on the city streets of Austin yesterday evening.
So, the bike is fully legal thanks to someone from the military coming back stateside with it.
