Anybody had problems with SPI-parts.com

Post by bakaracer »

Thes guys are a bunch of scam artists. I thought I would take the plung and finally order from these guys as a few guys on had ordered from them and they haven't said anything bad.So I figure I just order 3 belts to see how they are. 3 polini belts at $64.62 plus $6.50 shipping. Not bad so I order it. wait little over a week and the box shows up.open it and 1 belt inside with the reciept in it. it was drop shipped with a charge for 1 belt plus $6.05 shipping charged to my credit card. I email them to say I got 1 belt in the mail when I ordered 3 and they charged $6.05 shipping and hope I don't get charged another $6 for shipping for the other belts.this is why I odered 3 belts so I don't have to pay additional shipping.Scott from spi-parts.com emails back and said he only had 1 belt in stock so he sent the 1 and has the other 2 on back order but I have to pay $6 for shipping on those.I think this is full of crap.I emailed him back and told him this is why I ordered 3 belts. I later calls me today and tell me he figure he send the 1 belt so at lease I have the 1 belt now and then when the other 2 come in he will send it,but for another $6.I told him why didn't you email me saying you didn't have 3 belts in and give me the option if I want him to send me the 1 now but pay the $6 shipping and when the other 2 comes in pay another $6 for that. But he didn't and took it apon himself to send it anyways. AM I AT FAULT FOR THIS? I don't think so and I told him that but he still made it like thats how they do business take it or leave it type of attitude.this was just a sample order of 3 belts.imagine if I ordered a whole engine setup of parts. He also says customers are always willing to pay the extra shipping if there order is not fulfilled which I think is a big BS. So guys If your thinking of buying from SPI-parts.com think twice and ask yourself if you want to get ripped off because thats what they will do yo you.

sounds like bad customer service, but not a scam. You agreed on the shipping charge when you ordered the 3 belts. I would cancel the other 2

I did cancel the other 2 but they do this all time to people that oder stuff according to Scott which is the guy that emailed me and called me. so that tells me they do this on purpose to get more money from shipping. For a company that has a account to ship stuff doesn't get charged $6.05 to send a small flat rate size box.

I did tell him that what he is doing as bad business but he didn't care and said he still has to charge me $6 for shipping if I want the 2 other belts so I told him forget it and cancel the 2 belts and told him other scooter people will find out about this and so I blew it up on 3 other forums so far because I don't want other scooter guys to get burned.

Maybe, just maybe he meant well, but he needs to get approval if he's going to split the order and double charge for shipping.

He didn't mean well by doing that. The guy Scott admitted that when they don't have all the parts on hand that they send it out anyways and charge customers shipping. when the rest of the parts the customer ordered comes in they charge them again for shipping those parts out so they do this on purpose. They do make money on shipping.not a whole lot but enough.the box they sent me is the size of a small flat rate usps box.usps charges $4.95 to send .if you have a account with a shipping company like say ups,you don't pay retail shipping so that same box can be sent for around $2.95.

Baka,

I too have had a bad experience with SPI. I was charged a TON for shipping, (like 3 times what it should have been), a sale item was not sold to me as a sale item, a keychain I paid for was never sent, and it took 3 weeks for my order to arrive.

In my opinion, SPI is a WASTE. Communication was awful, as well. :bs:

Thumbs waaay down on SPI. Buyer beware. :jack:

I had the same thing happen to me when I ordered some parts from Summit racing.

I ordered a set of ARP head studs (on back order at the time), as well as some other parts.

To avoid any unnecessary shipping charges, I told my sales rep not to send anything until EVERYTHING was in and ready to be shipped.

They sent me an incomplete order (1 item), and I ended up paying more for shipping than than for the actual part! :*:

Got on the phone with my rep at summit racing to complain. :*:  :*:

The remaining items were sent with no shipping charge. :2thumbs:

Another satisfied customer.

Now that's how it should have been handled....

Ok here is what happened so far.I posted the same thing on another forum that spi goes on and they responded to the post.it seems that this was how they did thing and didn't think anything about it. So after me pointing out to the owner and other people posting that there customer service sucked , it made them realize that how they did things needed to be changed.as for the problem that happened to me,i decided to give them another chance since the owner said he was going to ship the rest of the belts for free if I wanted them still.so we will see what happens.
