Just like you would if you were jump starting another car. Plus to plus, negative to negative, give it a minute to boost the scooter battery and then crank the scooter up. In the case of a scooter, you shouldn't even need to have the car running as the car battery is at least 10 time as potent as the scooter battery.

I don't think I'd jump start a scooter, especially with a car battery. Potentially dangerous/damaging. Just buy a new battery, they are around $25.

The scooter starter can only draw what power it needs. The jumper battery can not force power into the scooter. Jump starting is no more dangerous with a scooter than any other vehicle and just how can it damage anything except by the one doing the jumping being stupid?

The Owner's Manual says

"NOTE: Do not use the electric starter for more than 5 seconds at a time. Release the starter button for approximately 10 seconds before pressing again."

Otherwise prolonged cranking with even the scooter's battery will cause issues. The saving grace of the scooter battery is it has a small reserve and won't let you crank for 15 minutes like a car battery will. But any damage is an operator error, not the battery's fault.

I've used jumper cables from my truck to scooter and riding mower with truck turned off and everything was fine. Where do i find a battery for $25? I went to Wal-mart and they were $50. I'm anti Wal-mart and would like a different source.

Yes its o.k. to jump a stock engine but for you bore kit owners they do make high torque starters that crank up to a 76cc engine
