Hot wiring a scoot

Here's the situation. I just finished my wifes aero last weekend got it all running good and looking good too. I left the keys in the ignition to remind me to go make copies of them. In the meantime some sticky "little" fingers took them out and they cannot be located. Going camping tomorrow was taking the scoots with us but.......... No Keys. So my question is How can I tempararily hot wire it until I locate the keys. I don't want to guess and or figure it out as I want to keep the wiring clean. Where's Mouse with the awesome wiring diagrams??

not 100% but red is +in black with stripe is to the cdi,green ground, and this is where im unsure but is black no stripe + out? you know to make the electrics to work.

there is a section on this, its been a while since i did mine but basically its something like

red to black where your ignition is then you can either kickstart it or put a push button(like on my spree) between the red and red/yellow wires on the starter relay.

Hi,
The stock ignition switch had 4 contacts. You should have a double pole, double throw switch (DPDT)

In the "ON" position, the Red (+12v Battery) is connected to the Black wire (+12v switched)
In the "OFF" position, the green wire is connected to the Black/White stripe wire. That kills the engine. Its possible to just leave the Black/White strip wire open and use the RUN/Stop switch on the right control instead. But sooner or later someone might forget to turn off the +12v switch, and drain the battery.

In a stock wired bike, the next step in starting is the brake lever must be pulled, (Gives power to one side of the starter relay coil), and the 'Start' button pressed. That applies ground to the other side of the starter relay coil. Relay coil should be heard to be clicking at this point. If not post back for troubleshooting info.

Also - what color is the 5th wire you have at the ignition? There should only be 4 wires at the ignition switch. Maybe we can figure out what that should tie to.

Just unplug the ignition switch and you can start it with the kicker and run it. Use the run/stop switch to kill it.

Really just that easy? I'll find the key (I hope) eventually. But the tail light won't be on like usual. Thinking...... If I unplug it how is that gonna work.

Yeah you will have no lights except for the head light but it will let you run it. Spare key is always the first thing I do.

You can do that, but you will have no taillight, horn, turn signals ,or brake lights.

Simple answer

I usually do as well but, my youngest has caught me off guard. What if I just use some of those wire taps on the black and red ran to a toggle. Sounds like it will give me everything I need temporarily. Just need to switch the toggle back afterward. And if it is forgotten I can just kick it.

Thanks for confirming for me. I didn't want to leave the new scoot at home this weekend. I have only rode it once!

All good suggestions, I think I'll go with having lights. Holiday weekend cops etc. Possibly an unlicensed rider. (my daughter the one that didn't touch the keys)

I had no info to contribute but can say this... I have 2 teenage boys and they are ALWAYS not losing stuff of mine Just part of being a parent I guess.
